RM#2 Day 5 - Beetroot Sesame Buns

Many people believe that Beetroot is good for the blood. This is not correct. Of course beetroot is good for you it is not high in iron so it will not help prevent anaemia, which many believe it will do. Beetroot's main benefits are that it contains no fat, very few calories and is a great source of fibre.Beetroot has for many years been used as a treatment for cancer in Europe. One small beetroot (40 g) is a good source of folate, provides 1.6 g of dietary fibre n supplies 18 kcal..Sesame seeds can add variety to your diet and give your health a boost. Not only are sesame seeds a very good source of manganese and copper, but they are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, vitamin B1, zinc and dietary fiber. In addition to these important nutrients, sesame seeds contain two unique substances: sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals. Sesamin has also been found to protect the liver from oxidative damage.Sesame seeds are a very good source of copper, and calcium. Just a quarter-cup of sesame seeds supplies 74.0% of the daily value for copper, 31.6% of the daily value for magnesium, and 35.1% of the daily value for calcium.Like most seeds and nuts, sesame seeds are high in calories, and should therefore not be eaten in great quantities. I prepared this buns for breakfast, they were really yummy n also healthy..Yasmeen 's sesame buns pushed me to prepare this buns with beetroot n sesame...

3cup Whole Wheat flour
5tbsp Olive oil
2tbsp Flax seed meal
1/4cup Sesame
1packet Active Dry yeast
1tsp Sugar
1/2cup Beetroot puree
1/2tsp Salt

Add the active dry yeast in 1/2cup of luke warm water with sugar n salt..keep aside n let the yeast do the work...Take the beetroot puree, whole wheat flour, flax seed meal, olive oil, 2tbsp of sesame seeds together, add the yeast, just sprinkle some water if needed n knead them as a dough...dough will be bit sticky...close the bowl with a humid cloth n arrange them in a warm place n dont disturb them for 2 hours...

After 2 hours, divide the dough into small balls n knead them slowly with ur fingers for few minutes, make them as small buns..meanwhile preheat the oven at 425F for 10 minutes...arrange a parchement paper over the baking tray..now place the small buns over the parchement paper n springle few sesame seeds over the bun..bake them for 25-30minutes until they turn slightly brown...Keep aside n let them cool..

Have them with any choice of salads, cheese r else simply with butter n jam, y not with chocolate spread!!!!

Healthy, Simple n Yummy Beetroot Sesame Buns!!!
