Soya Chickpeas Dumplings & Tomato Pulao

Its was quite an obligation for me to finish out some leftover soaked chickpeas sitting sadly in my fridge since two days, finally i prepared as a quick and easy, nutritious and healthy steamed dumplings with few cooked  soyachunks..After a long hesitation, i prepared them as a flavourful pulao yesterday for our lunch..For the first time,i used steamed dumplings for making pulao and i wasnt sure how this pulao will turn out until the final result was a super delicious,flavourful,quite satisfying one pot meal..We just loved it, serve it simply with hard boiled eggs or fried fryums,am damn sure you will definitely have a filling lunch or dinner..You can easily carry this delicious pulao in your lunch box..Sending to Vardhini's Dish Out - Soya & Tomato,LGSS-Tomato guest hosted by Anu,event by Vatsala & to Lisa's Indian Food Event..


Soya chickpeas dumplings:
2cups Soaked chickpeas
1/2cup Soya chunks
3nos Garlic cloves
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
1no Onion (chopped)
1/2tsp Grated ginger
4nos Dry red chillies
Salt
Few coriander leaves (chopped)

Cook the soyachunks in hot water, squeeze out the cooked soyachunks and grind as bit coarse paste..Grind the soaked chickpeas,garlic cloves, asafoetida powder,dry red chillies as a coarse paste, finally add the grounded soyachunks paste,chopped onions,chopped coriander leaves,grated ginger and salt, mix everything well..

Make small lemon sized balls from the grounded paste and steam cook them for 10-15minutes in an idly cooker and keep aside..

For Pulao:
2cups Basmati rice
1cup Coconut milk
2cups Water
2nos Onions(chopped finely)
1tsp Ginger garlic paste
1/2cup Tomato paste or fresh juicy tomatoes
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
1tsp Coriander powder
3nos Green chillies (slit opened)
1tsp Cumin seeds
Oil
Few mint leaves
10nos Soya chickpeas dumplings

Take the soaked rice, coconut milk and water  in a microwave safe bowl and cook for 20-25minutes in high power in microwave oven, once the rice gets cooked, keep aside and let them cool..

Heat enough oil, fry the cumin seeds..Add the chopped onions,ginger garlic paste and saute until the onions turns transculent, add the tomato paste,garam masala powder,coriander powder,green chillies,cook everything for few minutes until the oil gets separates, finally add the soya chickpeas dumplings, cook in low flame until the dumplings gets well coated with the spices..

Now add the already cooked rice to the masala,toss gently until everything gets well mixed, finally add the chopped mint leaves and serve hot with chips,fryums or hard boiled eggs..

Thank you for this great recipe. I made this for a party of 30 people and it turned out good. The dumplings tasted good and i added saunf to the ground chickpeas. Smelled and tasted great. I also added baby corn to this pulao. Everyone in the party thought it was paruppu urundai.
