Plantain Chips

Plantains are a type of banana that contain less sugar than the common yellow banana. They are prepared similarly to vegetables being either fried or cooked. They are not suitable for eating raw unless they are very ripe. Plantains are low in sodium and high in vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. Usually many of Tamilians prepare them as curries, my mom used to prepare chips from plantains..its very simple n tasty side dish for many rice dishes r else just as snacks with hot coffee r tea..

2nos Plantains
Oil for deepfrying
1/4tsp Pepper powder
Salt as per need
1/2tsp Turmeric powder

Peel the skin of plantains n slice them with mandolin...wash thoroughly, soak the sliced plantains in turmeric water for 1 hour...drain the water n pat dry with tissue papers..

Heat the oil n fry them in small batches..oil will bubble vigorously n after a minute they will settle down.. and the chips will float..once they turn lightly brown, drain the excess of oil in paper towel...Add the pepper powder n salt to fried chips n toss them gently...
