Apple Upside Down Cake

Finally after two months of summer vacation, my kids are getting ready to start an another new year of schooling. Now i can spend more time in cooking, clicking and non stop blogging, thats why am going to run blogging marathon for this whole month with alphabets and with different themes for four weeks. My first week of blogging marathon's theme is baked dishes, followed by regional foods, then for the third week its gonna be street foods/condiments and last but not least for the fourth week its going to be International foods/Fusion foods.

For the first day of this month's long blogging marathon i chosed  the theme baked dishes and with 'A' as alphabet, obviously i chosed our family favourite cake aka Apple upside down cake. This cake is as much as like the famous pineapple cake. If you dont like apples, trust me you should give a try to this cake and am sure you will enjoy thoroughly this apple upside down cake.Caramelised apples gives definitely an excellent taste to this cake. I'll advice you to enjoy this cake with a scoop of vanilla icecream or with a cup of masala tea. This cake is definitely very simple, quick and prefect tea time snack. An easy breezy cake for beginners as well, you can bake very well this cake with both golden and gala apples.Sending to Srivalli's Cake Mela.

2cups All purpose flour
1cup Sugar
1/2cup Yogurt
1/2cup Butter
2nos Eggs
1tsp Baking powder
1/2tsp Baking soda
1tsp Vanilla essence
3nos Red apples (cored, halved and sliced thickly)
1/4cup Packed brown sugar
50grms Butter

Melt the butter, add the brown sugar and heat in simmer until the sugar gets dissolves.

Pour this sugar syrup to a 8inch round baking pan.

Now arrange the sliced apples chunks over the sugar syrup and keep aside.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Beat the butter and sugar until they turn smooth, add the eggs one by one to the butter and sugar mixture until everything turns soft.

Finally add the yogurt, beat everything for few more minutes.

Meanwhile sift the flour, baking soda and baking powder, keep aside.

Add the sifted flour, vanilla essence to the wet ingredients, mix everything well with a spatula until everything get well mixed, dont over mix..

Pour the cake batter to the already prepared pan and bake in middle rack for 25-30minutes or until the skewers insert come out clean..

Keep aside and let them cool completely.

Invert the baking pan over a plate and slice the cake as you desire, enjoy with ur cup of tea.
