Bok Choy Kootu

I love this chinese bok choy as anything, i usually cook them as stir fry along with seafoods or meats, but i love these bok choy as gravies with our Indian spices, after a long hesitation i prepared this delicious and healthy kootu with chopped bok choy and with a special spice powder prepared using flax seeds along with few Indian spices, enjoyed having this kootu with spicy chicken roast for our sunday lunch..Sending this yummy kootu to CWS-Flax Seeds guest hosted by Priya,event by me..

Bokchoy Kootu

2cups Bokchoy (chopped)
1cup Cooked moong dal
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1no Onion (chopped)
1no Tomato (chopped)
2tbsp Flax seed spice powder
Few curry leaves
Salt
1/2tsp Mustard seeds
1/2tsp Urad dal
2nos Dry red chillies
Oil

Flax seed spice powder:
1tbsp Flax seeds
2tbsp Coriander seeds
2tbsp Grated coconut
4nos Dry red chillies
1tsp Cumin seeds
10nos Peppercorns

Dry roast all the ingredients given for flax seed spice powder..grind as fine powder,keep aside..Heat enough oil, let splutters the mustard seeds, urad dal,dry red chillies..add immediately the chopped onions,chopped tomatoes,sauté until the onions turns transculent, add the chopped bok choy,curry leaves,turmeric powder and salt, sauté everything for few minutes..

Finally add the flax seed spice powder, cooked moong dal with enough water,bring everything to boil..put the flame in simmer until the veggies get well cooked..Enjoy hot with papads or any non vegetarian side dishes with hot steaming rice..

Used to stir fry bakchoy with garlic and some oyster. This is something different, makes me salivate as usual! ;)

wow superb recipe~ I've been wondering how to cook the bok choy other than the stir fry... kootu is the best I guess :) flax seed powder makes it doubly delightful and healthy!!.. very much eager to try it out...

Tried and loved this kootu Priya - didn't add flax seeds since I didn' thave them but even then it was a winner :) Thanks for the recipe.
