Eggless Spider Bread ~Halloween Special/Pain d'araignée pour Halloween

Halloween is around the corner, actually we dont celebrate here but since last three years kids are celebrating Halloween with their friends. However kids have fun with their friends during this Halloween day. Last year i have baked some Spooky Witch fingers and Mummy cupcakes for this special occasion, but this year i want to skip Halloween as am busy. But this month's  Defi Boulange, created  by Nadia and Manue, a French baking group challenged the members with an incredible Spider bread. Its a group where Manue and Nadia shares their beautiful bakes every month and the members of this group should bake their version of the month's challenged bake with their own ingredients.Spider bread went for easy ingredients and eggless. Obviously i pulled myself to make this bread.

Eggless Spider bread, 3D spider bread

Apart from shaping the bread, this bread is very easy to make. With an usual bread dough, you can make this ultimate creation within few minutes. However i enjoyed making this Eggless Spider bread and we had this bread with some spicy sauce. Both Nadia and Manue presented their bread with sauces poured inside the body of the spider to give a spooky effect, but i skiped it and clicked simply.

550grms Bread flour
2tbsp Olive oil
1tsp Salt
25grams Fresh yeast
1tsp Dry rosemary leaves
30cl Water
Black olives (sliced as two equal pieces)
Black poppyseeds (as per need)
Milk for brushing

Mix the yeast in luke warm water.

Take the flour, salt, dry rosemary leaves, olive oil in a large bowl, add in the yeast and mix everything well with your fingers.

Knead everything a smooth and soft dough.

Keep the dough in a greased bowl, cover it and keep it aside in a warm place until the dough double the volume.

Once the dough is doubled, remove it from the bowl, punch it and knead everything as a smooth dough.

Divide the dough into a large ball for the body of the spider, next a small ball for the head and eight small balls for their legs.

Let them sit for 10minutes. Take the 8balls and roll them as ropes, arrange them over a baking sheet as shown in the picture.

Roll the body and head of the spider and arrange over an another baking sheet.

Keep aside everything for 30minutes in a warm place.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Brush the legs with milk and sprinkle the poppy seeds, bake the already prepared legs for 15-20minutes.Remove and let them cool.

Now brush the body and the head with milk, sprinkle the poppyseeds generously, press the black olive slices to make eyes.

Bake for 30-35minutes,remove from the oven and let them cool completely.

Spider bread

While assembling, make 8 holes in the body of the spider to insert the legs, now insert the 8 baked legs.

Keep in the centre of the table during your Halloween party, enjoy with your favourite sauce.
