Eggless Burger Buns/Eggless Hamburger Buns

Personally for me, baking burger buns at home was quite a dream, i have crossed couple of recipes and dunno why i never tried my hands with them. If you get a chance to make your own burger buns at home, how can you miss it, definitely ' no' rite. Yes this happened for me, as i picked Tame the yeast as this week's theme, i was  supposed to bake some burger buns for this week's blogging marathon .If the host of this month's Tame the yeast theme gives you an eggless version of burger buns how can you resist to it. Hence i tried my hands and got these beauties successfully with spongy and softy texture. This hamburger buns came out extremely awesome, we finished your dinner happily with these cuties.

Eggless Hamburger Buns, Hamburger buns without eggs, Homemade burger buns

Curd and baking soda are used to replace the egg here, somehow i felt that this recipe is a keeper and doubled the quantity of ingredients to make almost 10 burger buns. Gayathri of Gayathri's Cook Spot suggested us this incredible hamburger/burger buns. Most of us know very well that Gayathri is an expert in eggless baking and all her bakes speaks on behalf of her how much she loves baking. Everytime i'll go to her space, i'll be surprised to see how beautifully she would have converted a bake prepared with eggs as eggless one. Actually she is also one among those bloggers who pulled me to stop running behind the eggs. Well, coming to this burger buns, one can make easily at home with less efforts and these breads are dangerously addictive when served with anything. Stay tuned to know with what i served this hamburger buns, if you think that i would have served this buns with tikkis, you are absolutely wrong. However we had a super filling dinner with this soft burger buns. Since i ran out of sesame seeds, i just replaced it with black poppy seeds,if you have sesame seeds, just stick with it.Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM#45.

Eggless hamburger buns, spongy eggless hamburger buns

Recipe source: Gayathri

1/4cup Curd + a pinch baking soda
1tbsp Butter
3/4tsp Salt
1/8cup Sugar
Poppy seeds/sesame seeds for topping
Melted butter for brushing

In a bowl add flour, salt, sugar, butter, yeast and curd baking powder mixture.

Add slowly the water to kead a soft and slightly sticky dough, and stop once the dough reach the right consistency, you may not use half a cup. Take care while pouring water.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes to make it soft, silky and pliable.

Place the dough in a greased, clean bowl and keep it covered for 1 hour or until double.

When the dough is double in volume, transfer it to counter and punch it down.Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.

Roll each ball by cupping it inside the palm and roll it in circles until you get a smooth top.

Place the balls on baking sheet lined over a baking tray with enough place for rising.Flatten each ball.

Keep it covered with a towel until it has doubled.

Preheat oven to 160C.

When the balls are slightly increased their volume, brush the top with milk and sprinkle poppy seeds:sesame seeds on top.

Place the tray in the centre rack and bake for 15-25minutes or until the top is golden. Do not forget to rotate the tray in between to avoid burning of the corner buns.

Remove the tray from oven and brush the buns with melted butter gently

Allow it to cool completely before handling.
