Mixed Beans & Lentils Masal Vada/Mixed Lentils & Beans Fritters

Elevenses in India calls for fritters, a cup of tea for the sure. When i picked How about Elevenses as theme for this week's blogging marathon, i seriously want to prepare something healthy with mixed beans and lentils. I always love to mix and match the ingredients to dish out vadais, obviously my space will have varieties of fritters prepared with combination of dals, vegetables and greens. Today's post is definitely an interesting fried beauties to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee around 11 o'clock in the morning. With a wonderful mixture of lentils and beans, trust me you will definitely enjoy these crispy fritters without any fuss.

Mixed lentils, Dals Vada, Mixed Dals Vada

Actually i prepared this dish coz of some leftover beans, yes there were some chickpeas, dry peas, blackeyed peas were sitting in my pantry to prepare something with them.Since the quantity of those beans was very less for my family members i couldnt stop myself to add some lentils with. This vada calls for channadal, masoordal,French lentils and moongdal, and trust me this fritters are just prefect to munch with a cup of your favourite drinks for a break. We loved munching these deep fried beauties and enjoyed thoroughly.

Mixed Dals & Mixed Lentils Fritters

1cup Mixed Beans (Chickpeas,black-eyedpeas, dry green peas)
1cup Mixed Lentils (Bengalgram, Moongdal,French lentils, Masoordal)
3nos Dry red chillies
1tsp Ginger (chopped)
Few Curry leaves
2nos Garlic cloves
1/2tsp Fennel seeds
Coriander leaves (as per need)
Salt
Oil for deepfrying

Soak the mixed beans overnite with enough water, soak the lentils for 3hours.

Grind the soaked lentils and soaked beans with dry red chillies,garlic cloves,fennel seeds as coarse paste without water, if its too hard to grind,just sprinkle some water.

Mixed Dals Beans Masala Vada

Add the chopped ginger pieces, curryleaves and salt, mix everything well.

Meanwhile heat the oil for deep frying, take a small ball from the grounded mixture, flat them in your palms and gently drop them in hot oil.

Fry them until they get well cooked, strain the excess of oil with a paper towel..

Serve hot.

Priya , I like this idea of making vadas with a variety of daalsc, they look so good and must have tasted awesome .
I am going to do the same now , have some whole beans which should be used now .. will make vadas !

What an awesome way to finish off those left over variety beans. With all the lentils and beans, this is one protein packed vada for sure. They look so delicious.

What a great way to use leftover lentils. The vada looks crispy and perfect with a cup of tea or coffee.
