Potato & Minced Meat Paratha Pockets

Packing a kid's lunch box is definitely a hard task especially for picky eaters. However i dont pack foods for my kids as they dont carry their lunch boxes. We are running a month of blogging marathon during this whole month of April. With 4 themes for 4 weeks, i have been posting for the past three weeks with different themes. And the final theme for this week is going to be Kid's Lunchbox recipes, after an easy breezy one pot meal, am posting a terrific paratha pockets which calls for a fabulous potato and minced meat filling. My family cant survive more than a day without eating meats, yes they are meat lovers.

Potato & Minced meat Paratha

Easy to pack, these potato minced meat paratha pockets can ask for a bit lengthy preparation but still if you plan well, this dish is quite easy to prepare. If you want to dish out the same dish with a vegetarian filling, please go with as you can mix and match your filling according to your tastebuds. However my choice of filling is potato and minced meat stuffing. Kids can carry this paratha pockets without any complaint in their lunch box. Easy to dish and delicious to enjoy, this paratha pockets are just prefect to pack in a kid's lunch box. You can prepare the same dish even with the store bought tortilla wraps, however personally i enjoyed making this filling paratha pockets with the usual chappathi dough which i prepare usually with the wheat flour.

Potato & Meat Paratha, Folded Potato & Meat Roti

2cups Whole wheat flour
Warm water
1tbsp Oil

For stuffing:
3nos Potatoes (cooked & mashed)
250 grams Minced meat
2nos Onion (chopped)
2nos Green chillies (chopped)
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
1/2tsp Fennel seed powder
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
Chopped coriander leaves

Take the wheat flour, oil and salt together in a bowl, add the warm water and knead everything as a stiff and smooth dough, keep aside for half an hour.

Pressure the minced mutton meat with half cup of water and turmeric powder upto 3 whistles. Strain the cooked water from the meat and keep aside.

Heat enough oil, fry the fennel seed powder, add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies and saute for few minutes until the onions turns transculent.

Add the cooked minced meat, mashed potatoes, garam masala powder, salt and cook everything in simmer until the minced meat-potato gets well coated with the masala.

Add the chopped coriander leaves to the potato-minced meat filling and put off the stove, keep aside and let it cool completely.

Potato & Minced Meat Paratha

Make medium sized balls from the dough.

Flatten them as parathas with the rolling pin. Drop enough filling, bring the edges of the paratha towards the middle and wrap it as rectangles. Press the edges nicely.

Heat a tawa, drop this paratha over the hot tawa, drizzle few drops of oil.

Cook on both sides until the paratha gets well cooked.
