No Onion No Garlic Capsicum Kurma/No Onion No Garlic Capsicum Coconut Curry

Kurma is a flavoursome rich gravy which can be relished either with rice or rotis. I do prepare varieties of kurma with different vegetables or meats. Since i have be running this week's blogging marathon of this month's Mega marathon with No Onion No Garlic dishes as theme, i want to experiment myself to prepare a delicious kurma. Personally for me Kurma cant be prepared without both onions and garlic, but after dishing out my today's post, i have completely changed my vision. Yes you can prepare some fingerlicking kurma without onions and garlic. With simple cooking method and a fabulous flavorsome rich grounded masala paste, you can prepare this aromatic kurma. I love the flavor of capsicum in kurmas, however if you want to dish out this kurma with any sort of vegetables, please dont forget to add them as you desire.

Capsicum Coconut Curry, No Onion No Garlic Capsicum Curry

We enjoyed this kurma with rice and papads, while kids had this kurma for their lunch with some chicken fry. We completed our lunch happily with this aromatic dish without any fuss. Honestly i have been experimenting some delicious gravies which was completely not my cup of tea without onions and garlic. And am very much happy about this no onion no garlic versions of gravies. Even my onion loving husband didnt noticed that this curry was completely prepared with both onions and garlics. An excellent accompaniment for rotis as well. If you are looking for a no onion no garlic vegetable kurma/curry with loads of coconut, dont forget to check this delicious vegan dish.

Capsicum Kurma , Vegan Capsicum curry

3 Green capsicums (chopped as medium pieces)
1tsp Cumin seeds
1 Bay leaf
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
Oil
Salt to taste

To roast and grind:
2tsp Coriander seeds
2tsp Fennel seeds
1tsp Poppy seeds
1 Cinnamon
1 Cardamom
2 Green chillies
10 Cashewnuts
3-4 tbsp Grated coconut

Roast all the ingredients under the list 'to roast & grind' except the cashew and grated coconut as fine paste.

In a pan, add enough oil, let crack the cumin seeds, bay leaf. Add immediately the chopped capsicums and sauté for few minutes until a nice aroma comes from.

Vegan Capsicum Curry

Now add the grounded paste, salt, turmeric powder and cook for a while.

Add enough water and cook until the dish turns bit thick.

Put off the stove and serve hot with rice or rotis.

I bet the kurma was delicious even without onion and garlic. The cashews and coconut must have given rich flavor to the kurma.

Wow, what a flavor packed kurma that is Priya. That too without onion and garlic. That masala with coconut, poppy seeds and spices sounds delicious. I'm drooling just reading about it. Good one!!

Omg such an amazing kurma with no onion and no garlic aks , This is looking so rich and creamy.. Lips smacking capsicum kurma , am drooling badly.. With sadam and appalam it is heavenly combo , I want that plate and that delicious kurma here . Midnight le ippadi pasi ka vathiteengala , naan yen panuven, yenga poven :D

Cooking without onion and garlic is pretty easy but the taste is kind of acquired. Kurma looks so yum even without onion and garlic.

Mild capsicum and coconut goes very well to make together as a gravy.. Perfect combo with some Appalam and hot Rice..

The coconut and cashew nuts always add a rich taste to kurma without onion or garlic. I love your idea of just using capsicum to make the kurma.
