Thor/Meetha Saata/Deepfried Sweet Pastries

This week's posts are going to be Bookmarked recipes. My bookmark list is overflowing, seriously i want cook or bake all those incredible dishes one by one to finish my list. But am sure its definitely a hard task to finish and close the list, however i dished out three of those bookmarked recipes as am running this week's blogging marathon with 'Bookmarked Recipes' as theme. I have bookmarked this delicious Thor from Jagruti's Space long back, to be honest a year back. I have been looking for a chance to dish out this incredible sweet and finally i prepared them at home. Thor ressembles almost between South Indian Badusha and North Indian Balushahi but with a simple preparation method.

Meetha Saata, Thor, Deep fried Sweet Pastries

Thor is definitely a fabulous sweet to give a try, as this sweet is terribly easy to prepare with crispy outside and ultimately flaky inside. Since ghee plays an important role to prepare these incredible pastries, this Thor will definitely tickle your tastebuds. Traditionally, Thor is deep fried in ghee however you can deep fry them in oil. If you are looking for a simple yet a delicious sweet to celebrate a special day or else for Diwali, dont forget to give a try to this fabulous sweet pastries. Trust me, Thor is definitely a must try and we loved it to the core.

Thor, Meetha Saata

1cup All purpose flour/Maida
4tbsp Desi Ghee
4 tbsp Milk
Oil for deep frying

For Sugar Syrup: 
1cup Sugar
3-4 tbsp Water
1tsp Milk
2-3tbsp Chopped Pistachio
Melon seeds

Place all purpose flour in a plate, add ghee and rub flour and ghee with your fingers,mix well, slowly add the milk  and knead as a pliable dough.

Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Divide dough into small sized balls. Roll out small round shape discs and prick with a fork.

Heat the oil/ghee on a medium heat, drop the already prepared puris and fry them in medium heat until they turns brown.

Remove them and continue the same process with the remaining rolled discs.

Let the fried discs gets cool completely.

Thor, Deep fried Pastries

Now prepare the sugar syrup with sugar and water, heat them on a medium heat.

Keep stirring and let the sugar dissolve completely. Let the syrup turns thick.
Now immediately drop the deep fried thor one by one into the syrup and coat completely. Remove one by one and place them on a baking sheet.

Sprinkle the melon seeds and chopped pistachio nuts. Once the syrup gets cool completely.

Store in a airtight container.

This is a wow sweet , even I love it ! The Sindhi version is called Dothee , but it is the same sweet . Beautifully made Priya.
