Fish Shaped Bread with Paneer Bhurji

I have been looking for some different shaped breads just to attract my kids as they are totally bored to eat the same shaped bread rolls whenever i bake savoury breads at home. I was looking at Pinterest and got hooked to this fish shaped bread. Eventhough i couldnt make the prefect fish shape, i was very happy with the final result. Actually shaping the bread dough is quite an art, its not that much easy to make figurines with bread dough. However my trial with this fish shaped bread turned out good when compared to the original fish shaped bread i tried to replicate. Since am busy during weekdays, i want to bake few goodies during weekends and last weekend i baked this fish shaped bread as am running Mega marathon during this whole month of April.Sending to Srivalli's Anniversary Mela.

Fish shaped bread with paneer bhurji

Coming to this fish shaped bread, i simply stuffed them with an easy breezy paneer bhurji, obviously this fish shaped bread is a protein rich, vegetarian bread, completely egg free as well. During my last visit to Organic shope i got few sample packets of mixed seeds grounded as coarse powder, which you can use them very well in salads, soups or in breads.I couldnt stop myself adding them while kneading my dough. Trust me those mixed & grounded coarse powder of seeds gives an excellent nutty texture to this bread.Obviously the addition of this coarse powder of seeds makes this bread more interesting as well. As i told earlier, this week is going to be savoury yeasted breads, after German rolls , am posting this beautiful fish shaped bread as an entry for this month's blogging marathon with Baking as theme.

Fish shaped bread with paneer bhurji

3+1/2cups All purpose flour
2+1/4tsp Instant yeast
2tsps Sugar
1+1/2tsps Salt
1+1/4cup Water
1/4cup Oil
4tbsp Mixed seeds powder
Olive oil for brushing
Sesame seeds for topping

Paneer bhurji:
2cups Scrambled paneer
1no Onion (big & chopped finely
1/2cup Bellpepper (green and red)
1tsp Cumin seeds
1tsp Ginger garlic paste
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1/2tsp Red chilly powder
2nos Green chillies (chopped)
1/2tsp Garam masala
Chopped coriander leaves

Heat enough oil, lets crack the cumin seeds, add immediately the chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, saute until the onions turns transculent.

Now add the chopped green chillies, chopped bellpeppers, give a quick stir and add the turmeric powder, chilly powder, garam masala powder with salt, saute everything for few seconds.

Finally add the scrambled paneer, put the flame in simmer, cook everything for few minutes (keep stirring continously)..

Keep aside.

Kneading dough:

In the bowl, take the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Heat water and oil until luke warm, add to flour mixture, mixed seeds powder, knead until well combined.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, grease the top. Cover, let rise in warm place for two hours or until almost double.

Punch down the dough. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a slightly thick oval disc.

Make an outline as shown in the picture and slice the mouth of the fish. Make an eye from the dough and make slashes on both sides to cover the stuffing.

Spread the paneer bhurji generously and cover the stuffing as shown in the picture.

Keep aside for half an hour in a warm place, covered with a towel.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Brush the fish shaped bread with olive oil, sprinkle sesame seeds and bake in middle rack for 30-35 minutes until the crust turns brown.

Put off the oven and let them cool..

Enjoy this stuffed fish shaped bread with your favourite drink.
