Luqaimat/Lqeimat/Emirati Yeasted Dumplings

Its been a while i made some deep fried snacks for kids, kids were pestering me for donuts but i dont want to make them as i dont want to spend much time in my kitchen. While looking at my bookmarks, these Emirati yeasted dumplings caught my attention. I have bookmarked them long back from Rafeeda's space, since am cooking from bookmarks for this week's blogging marathon, i gathered all the ingredients to dish out this ultimate Luqaimat. After going through Rafeeda's post, i came to know that this dumplings are very much liked by the Emiratis and its quite a popular dish of UAE. Seriously her intro tempted me to bookmark this dumplings long back and finally i tried them few days back at home for our sunday snacks.

Luqaimat is also known as Luqeimat or Qeemat is a quite a street food which have their own place in many events. And this dish is served for Iftar during Ramadan to enjoy among the friends and families.With easy ingredients, this UAE's most popular dish is definitely a must to try if you are craving for something mild in sweet and crispy. Dangerously addictive these Luqaimat is definitely a must try if you are looking for something different for your snacks as well. As i told earlier, these cute and delicious dumplings are going for this week's blogging marathon. My theme for this week's blogging marathon is Bookmarked recipes hence i have posted Luqaimats.

Emirati Yeasted Dumplings, Luqaimat

1cup All purpose flour
1/2cup Milk powder
1/4cup Sugar
1/2tsp Instant yeast
1tsp Oil
1/2tsp Cardamom powder
A pinch Saffron strands
Oil
Date syrup or honey for topping
Sesame seeds for topping

Take the flour, milk powder, sugar, salt, oil, instant yeast, cardamom powder in a bowl.

Add the saffron strands, add luke warm water and whisk to form a thick batter, take care not to add more water, batter should be thick, sticky.

Keep aside for 2 hours until the batter double the volume.

Heat oil for deep frying, once the oil is hot, dip a teaspoon in water and take some batter with the spoon.

Luqaimat, Arabic Yeasted Dumplings

Drop the batter to the oil, dont forget to the dip the spoon once a while to avoid the batter gets stick to the spoon.

Continue the same process, fry the sumplings in small batches.

Fry the dumplings until they turns golden brown. Drain with a paper towel.

Serve immediately topped with date syrup or honey.

Sprinkle a generous pinch of sesame seeds.

Enjoy with a cup of tea.

Luqaimat has turned out so good Priya. I remember trying this years back and we loved them so much. These are some gorgeous dumplings for sure.

I am so excited and so happy that you tried this recipe! Like you mentioned it is just too addictive, and on cold evenings, you can have bowls and bowls of it! When we go to the Global Village, irrespective of the queue, we will still buy a huge pack and fight for the last bite... hehe... It has turned out so well...
