Channa Puri/Mauritian Bengalgram Yeasted Dumplings

Looking for a different deep fried snacks for your evening snacks, dont forget to check my today's post.I have crossed this delicious, yeasted dumplings while googling for an easy breezy deep fried snacks. And the stuffing caught my attention as it calls for our famous Bengal gram aka Channadal. And the best part of this dish is the stuffing, its completely spiced with our Indian spice powders. Obviously, why should i think twice to give a try to this popular and well known Mauritian street food. I gathered all the ingredients to make this channa puri which is completely different from our Indian snacks. As i told earlier, Channa puri is prepared with a spiced channa dal stuffing and a yeasted batter. Though this recipe may sounds bit long to prepare, trust me this dumplings are dangerously delicious to munch.

Luqaimat/Lqeimat/Emirati Yeasted Dumplings

Its been a while i made some deep fried snacks for kids, kids were pestering me for donuts but i dont want to make them as i dont want to spend much time in my kitchen. While looking at my bookmarks, these Emirati yeasted dumplings caught my attention. I have bookmarked them long back from Rafeeda's space, since am cooking from bookmarks for this week's blogging marathon, i gathered all the ingredients to dish out this ultimate Luqaimat. After going through Rafeeda's post, i came to know that this dumplings are very much liked by the Emiratis and its quite a popular dish of UAE. Seriously her intro tempted me to bookmark this dumplings long back and finally i tried them few days back at home for our sunday snacks.

Mofo Gasy/Mokary/Madagascar Yeasted Gluten Free Pancakes

Today's post is going to be some dangerously addictive yeasted pancakes, yes i accidently crossed these Mofogasy which means Mala gasy bread from Madagascar cuisine. These tiny puffy pancakes are most known breakfast of Madagascar island. These pancakes are often eaten for breakfast with coffee as well as these Mofo gasy are the most popular street food. Mofo gasy is prepared with sweetened rice flour batter which is yeasted and cooked in greased circular moulds which ressembles quite like our own South Indian Appe pan. This bread is also called as Mokary as this mofo is made with coconut milk. This cakes/bread are dangerously addictive and quite filling as well. Prefect to munch while they were hot, one cant just stop with one and will definitely keep on munching these cuties as they tastes absolutely tremendous while they were hot.

Ka'ak/Lebanese Flatbread/Beirut Street Food Bread

Lebanon which is offically known as Lebanese Republic is a country situated in Western Asia. With Syria, Isreal,Cyprus as its borders, this country is very rich in history and ethnic diversity. Lebanese cuisine is a Levantine style of cooking which includes grains, fruits, vegetables seafoods and meats. Lebanese well known dishes are Baba Ghanouj, Hummus, Baklava etc.Here in Paris, we have decent numbers of Lebanese restaurants and even my kids have so many Lebanese friends, obviously this cuisine is not that much unknown for me. However am yet to prepare some authentic Lebanese dishes at home. My today's post goes for Kaak, its a Beirut street food bread, which is also quite known in Palestine, Syria and Jordan. Lebanese Street vendors leaves this bread to swing from rods in the rolling street carts. This breads looks like hand bag or a large ring shape which is coated with sesame seeds.  Obviously Ka'ak, is a Middle Eastern flatbread, popular in Lebanon, often eaten as breakfast or for a snack.   From those street vendors, you can get ka’ak filled with zaatar or smeared with cheese or hummus.

Dhalpuri Roti/Trinidadian Dal Stuffed Flatbread

Today am taking you all to Trinidad which is the larger and more populous island of two major islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad cuisine is a blend of Indian, European Creole, Arab,Chinese,Latin American, African west, influences. And their well known dishes are Sada Roti, Fried Bakes, Coconut Bake which includes street foods like Doubles, Pholourie,Kachori, Roti Wrap, Aloo pie and much more. Today i want to showcase one of the most popular Street food aka Dhalpuri Roti which have its Indian influence. Roti is consider as the Staple of this West Indian island's cuisine. A roti is Trinidad is served with its accompaniments typically with yellow curry stew of meat, potatoes and chickpeas. Roti arrived to the Trinidad island around the slavery was abolished in the late 1830s, with servants from India, where the unleavened flatbread has been popular for many centuries. Dhal puri, paratha and sada are the most readily available styles of roti in Trinidad.Locals call their brand of paratha “buss up shut,” which gets its name from the Trini pronunciation of the phrase “busted-up shirt,” a reference to what the dish looks like. Not like the traditional paratha in India, buss up shut is broken into pieces, and diners typically pick up the pieces with their hands and use them as utensils to scoop the curry.

Ring Shaped Vegetable Samosas

Samosas, these deep fried beauties are our family favourite and none will say 'no' to these crispy beauties. Am running this week's blogging marathon with A dish with different shape as theme, hence i have been posting different shaped dishes for the past two days. Today is the final post for this theme, hence i opted to our family favourite snacks aka Samosas. Samosas are popular Indian street foods and a prefect evening snacks as well. Usually samosas are shaped as triangles however the usual samosa dough can be rolled as logs and they are called as rolls. Since my theme for this week is a dish with different shape i decided to go with an interesting shaped samosas. And here comes the ring shaped samosas which call for usual samosa dough and a delicious vegetable stuffing.

Eggless Rose Shaped Donuts/Rose Doughnuts

Doughnuts/Donuts are deep fried dough which is typically shaped as ring shaped or else as ball shaped doughnut hole. Some donuts have holes and some may not. And this doughnuts called for yeasted dough which is usually prepared with eggs.I have already tried couple of doughnuts and todayam here with an another doughnuts which is completely eggless. Am running this week's blogging marathon with A dish in different shapes as theme. When i picked the theme, i know that this theme will be quite challenging, but i love challenges obviously i took this theme without any hesitation.Actually this theme is very interesting and trust me its brings out the artistic talent which is hidden inside and quite unknown to you. Three posts for this week came out extremely fabulous and when i served to my family, they just kept on praising the efforts i have put on to dish out those three dishes.

Gujarati Dal Vada/Moongdal Wada/Gujarati na Daal Vada

If you love deep fried beauties for your evening snacks, you should definitely give a try to this gluten free vadas. Actually Gujarati na Daal vada are quite a famous street food as they are sold by street vendors. Though this dal vada is known very much as tea time snacks during monsoon days, this dal vada got its origin from Ahmedabad where these crispy fritters are easily available in tea shops and many public stations. Gujarati dal vada is prominently prepared with either split yellow moongdals or else split green moongdals, yes this vada is completely prepared with just moongdal. However if you look for dal vada in other parts of India, most of the dal vadas calls for channa dal which is not needed for dishing out this crispy moongdal loaded Gujarati vadas.

Sidu/Siddu/Himachali Steamed Bread

Sidu or Siddu is a Himachal Pradesh steamed yeast bread which is quite famous in this region. Sidu dough is a yeast based dough which is prepared especially with wheat flour. And this steamed bread have a stuffing in it. Though the stuffing can be anything, however the most known stuffing is prominently prepared either with walnuts or paneer along with a combination of vegetables. This steamed yeasted bread is definitely a must to try. Normally served with ghee, dal or with coriander chutney, this steamed bread is quite famous during winter. Warm Siddu is definitely a fabulous dish to taste while the weather is bit chilled outside. Traditionally Siddu is shaped as half moon, however they can also rolled as round buns. Siddu is a typical dish of Himachali cuisine which is definitely a delicious bread. I tried Siddu at home for this month's  a monthly event started by me, which is now hosted by Mayuri Patel.

Quinoa Masal Vadai/Gluten Free Quinoa Dal Fritters

Third dish with Quinoa for this week's blogging marathon is our usual South Indian masal vadai aka channadal fritters loaded with quinoa. You might have noticed that am running this week's blogging marathon with Protein rich ingredients and i opted for Quinoa. Quinoa is a protein rich grains,and these tiny grains are extremely versatile to dish out many incredible dishes out of it. Masal vadais are quite popular in South Indian cuisine, these dal based fritters have their own place in any festive meals or for an evening snacks. These masal vadais are common snack foods in many tea shops and they are easily available in each and every corner of Tamil nadu. Its quite a street food as well. Masal vadais are prepared with many variations, however channadal based masal vadais are the most common one and i love these vadais very much.

Patatesli Gozleme/Turkish Potato & Cheese Gozleme

Gozleme is a popular Turkish stuffed flatbread and its quite a comforting food whoever loves stuffed flatbreads. My today's post is potato and cheese loaded flatbread which is quite a filling meal for anyone. Gozleme comes from the Turkish world 'GOZ'' which is refers to the Little eyes or brown circles that form on the dough while its gets cooked. Am postng Turkish potato and cheese gozleme for this week's blogging marathon as am running with Stuffed flatbread from different countries. My kids love potato and cheese in anything,and this Gozleme is our recent favourite. Quite a filling one and definitely a comforting food if you are craving for something cheesy for your brunch,lunch or dinner.

Elawalu Roti/Srilankan Vegetable Roti

I came to know about this Srilankan vegetable roti aka Elawalu roti few years back when we were invited to one of my friend's place for a get together few years back. This vegetable roti is served as a starter or for snack with a cup of tea in Srilanka. My friend's mom told that this roti was an imported snacks from South India. Earlier this roti was a restaurant food, but now its one of the most popular and famous snack food in all over Srilanka. You can enjoy this vegetable loaded roti from breakfast, lunch or snacks. In Srilanka this roti is enjoyed anytime of the day and its considered as one of the best midnight snacks as the rotis are panfried and can be heaten slightly in microwave oven anytime.

Sfenj/Moroccan Donuts

Last week, i have posted three different Moroccan dishes as i picked 'Moroccan Food' as theme for blogging marathon. While i was searching for some different and interesting recipes from this cuisine, i got hooked to this Sfenj aka Crispy Moroccan donuts.Sfenj is also considered as Algerian Donuts, however you can start your day with this donuts and end with it. Sfenj is a popular street food of Morocco and Algeria, and they are eaten with a cup of tea or coffee as these donuts are not that much sweet. These donuts are crispy on outside with chewy inside.

Poffertjes/Dutch Pancakes

Poffertjes are festive holiday treat in Netherlands and they are quite popular at both summer festivals and Christmas markets. This Dutch pancakes are small,fluffy pancakes which are made with yeast and flour. Poffertjes ressembles as much as like our own South Indian paniyarams and Japanese Takoyaki though they differ in their ingredients. This classic Dutch treat calls for a special pan which have tiny indentations. Trust me these fluffy poffertjes are prefect choice for a sunday brunch. You can still serve them as a dessert topped with nutella or icecream eventhough the traditional way of serving this tiny pancakes is with melted butter and sieved powder sugar or else with strawberries and whipped cream.

Nutella Filled Donuts

My kids are crazy fan of both Nutella and Donuts, they just love the store bought nutella filled donuts. Obviously they wont forget to grab a big bag of donuts from stores whenever they see them in stores. My younger one was requesting me since a long to make those nutelle donuts at home, i kept it in my to do list and finally i prepared these donuts at home few days back. Kids went crazy when i served this ultimate donuts for their snacks. Donuts are also well known street foods in many countries, though their name and shape may varies.

Trinidad Aloo Pie/Trini Potato Pie

When i was searching something new to cook from Caribbean cuisine, i landed to this blog and i got hooked to this fantastic potato pie. Though Doubles, an another Trini dish prepared with spiced chickpeas and flatbread as sandwiches are well known as street foods in Trinidad, these potato pies are also sold as another popular street food. Sold as street snack food, these potato pie have their own place in street vendors cart. Stuffed with boiled potatoes flavored with culantro leaves, cumin, chopped onions, these aloo pie are ready to munch with your favourite drink. One can finish even their lunch or dinner with two aloo pie, yes they are quite filling and delicious as well. In most of the restaurants in Trinidad, this aloo pie is filled with spiced chickpeas as per your request or else served along with mango or tamarind chutney.

Chickpeas Potato Kathi Roll/Channa Aloo Chappathi Wraps

Chickpeas, this beans are available all time of the year and its often found in grocery stores either as dried ones, tinned or else packed. Chickpeas are high in proteins, fiber with vitamins and minerals. The most common type of chickpeas are white/beige, but other varieties do exists. You can also find chickpeas as black, green and red variety. Originally cultivated in Mediterranean and in Middle East, this beans is also known as Garbanzo beans. Chickpeas are very much used in Indian cuisine, vegetarians add this beans often in their cooking and the most popular Indian dish with this beans is the famous Punjabi Pindi Chole. Served along with Bhature, a puffy fried beauty, this pindi chole is definitely a favourite dish of many Indians. Not to forget, this beans are cooked very much in many International cuisines. However being an Indian, i dont forget to add this ultimate beans in most of my dishes just to feed my small familly easily as this beans are loaded with proteins.

Chickpeas Pesto Thin Crust Pizza

Pizza is every kid's favourite, and i have rarely seen kids saying 'no' to this fantastic Italian bake. Loaded with cheese, pizza makes everyone happy at home and my kids are ardent fan of this cheesy dish. Earlier i never baked pizza at home and then later i realized that making pizza at home wasnt a tough job.Once i started baking bread at home, i tried making pizza at home and every time i make pizza, it was a big hit at home. Now i dont run behind the store bought ones, pizza dough can be prepared a day before and they are conserved very well in fridge.Homemade pizzas are always the best and you can mix and match the ingredients according to your wish with vegetables and cheese available in your fridge.Coming to my today's post, this pizza calls for pesto which can be prepared simply at home with less efforts.

Black Bean Cheese Burger/Vegetarian Cheese Burger

I tasted burger for the first time when i was travelling to Paris from India, to be honest its was my first worst experience with burgers. However later, burger became a part of our monthly menu, my kids loves burger very much. Earlier i usually get them from stores, but when realized that burgers are not that much difficult to dish out at home i started preparing them myself at home. Though kids loves non vegetarian burgers, i do prepare some vegetarian burgers. Burgers are definitely a super filling meal when served with some salads, however i always plan to prepare burger at home for dinner. Since we all dont have lunch together at home, its better to have burger altogether for dinner na. However kids loves burgers very much with their favourite french fries. When i picked Black bean as the ingredient for this week's marathon, the first dish came to my mind is Black bean burger.

Vegan Black Bean & Potato Empanadas

Here comes an another week of blogging marathon, am running this mega marathon with 5 ingredients for 5 weeks. And i picked a dry bean for a week, after dry green peas and dry black-eyed peas, am gonna show case Dry black beans for a week. Black beans are really healthy for both vegetarian and non vegetarian.These tasty and nutritious beans are easily available either as dried ones or in can. However the health benefits of this beans includes protein, fibre, antioxidants and many more micronutrients. Since these beans are high in protein, its definitely a good choice to vegetarian or for dieting people. Taking black beans often in your menu can boost your iron intake. Rich in calcium as much as like other beans, black beans are in high in fiber as well.
