Dhuska is a well known deep fried snack from Jharkhand. This fried snacks are eaten all over Jharkhand which calls for rice, channa dal as two main ingredients. Actually, earlier Jharkhand cuisine is quite unknown cuisine for me. Before a year, for an event i cooked a dish from this cuisine and totally enjoyed going through their cuisine. Learned few recipes through google master and have bookmarked few from this cuisine as much i do with other unknown cuisine. And for this month's Shh Cooking Secretly, a monthly event started by me, which is now hosted by Mayuri Patel. We are cooking from Jharkhand, and i have been paired with Priya Mahesh of Priyas Kitchen . Priya was kind enough to give me my two ingredients which is quite a staple food for a South Indian like me. Yes my two secret ingredients are Rice and channadal.

Ring Shaped Vegetable Samosas
Samosas, these deep fried beauties are our family favourite and none will say 'no' to these crispy beauties. Am running this week's blogging marathon with A dish with different shape as theme, hence i have been posting different shaped dishes for the past two days. Today is the final post for this theme, hence i opted to our family favourite snacks aka Samosas. Samosas are popular Indian street foods and a prefect evening snacks as well. Usually samosas are shaped as triangles however the usual samosa dough can be rolled as logs and they are called as rolls. Since my theme for this week is a dish with different shape i decided to go with an interesting shaped samosas. And here comes the ring shaped samosas which call for usual samosa dough and a delicious vegetable stuffing.

Black Sesame Sticky Rice Balls/TangYuan
My today's post is going to be something sweet, healthy and definitely nutritious with an excellent aroma. Black sesame sticky rice balls aka Tang Yuan is a sweet, chewy dessert prepared with sticky rice flour and a simple black sesame sugar. Though preparing this sticky rice balls is bit time consuming, trust me these cute balls are almost like South Indian Paal kozhukattai aka small rice balls cooked in sweetened coconut milk or milk. If you love Paal kozhukattai, then am sure you will love this incredible rice balls. This is the first time i picked sticky glutinous rice flour from Chinese store as i never been tempted to prepare dishes with this sticky rice flour. As i told earlier, am living in Chinatown and i get chinese ingredients easily as there are couple of chinese stores around my place.

Chinese Vegetarian Rice Congee/Brown Rice & Gai Lan Jook/Xi Fan
Congee is a savoury rice porridge which exists in many versions around the world. This dish is known as Jook by it Cantonese name, while in Chinese provinces it is known as Xi fan which means literally watery rice. This rice porridge aka congee is quite popular especially in many Asian countries and the word Congee is derived from Tamil language. Though people around the world follow different style of preparation, the final result always end as a thick porridge of rice after a long cooking process.Usually white rice is used in Cantonese congee with large amount of water until the rice breaks down as small pieces and turns thick. Often served with salted duck eggs, lettuce, pickled tofu, century eggs, meats with condiments, this dish makes an excellent meal to kick start a day.

Vanilla Icecream Crepe with Treacle Syrup
French pancakes are well known as Crepes, this thin pancakes are quite famous and its all time favourite food of my kids. They just devour it with anything though their favourite crepe is always with nutella spread. But today's recipe is completely different from the usual way of serving crepes. Yes my today's post is a fantabulous dessert after a meal, a simple and quite an easy dessert to make just in few seconds if you have crepes and store bought icecream. However am not a person to go for store bought ones, obviously i prepared both crepes with wheat flour and all purpose flour and the vanilla icecream with sweetened condensed milk and thick cream.

Southwestern Creamy Corn Chowder
After some deep fried snickers bars, i could resist to post a spicy South western corn chowder. I just love corn in anything and i really mean it. Actually i was looking for a spicy version of corn chowder, and finally here i am with a spicy yet a creamy corn chowder. This corn chowder makes an excellent filling, hearty and very satisfying soup to serve with a simple sandwich either for your chilled evening dinner or for a quick lunch. This Corn chowder is gluten free and trust me this Southwestern corn chowder asks for simple ingredients. You doesnt need to grind the cooked corn mix usually corn chowder goes for and potatoes are used in this spicy corn chowder. Obviously a super filling soup to enjoy without any fuss.Though this corn chowder asks for chilly powder to spice, its a mildly spicy dish for an Indian like me, however if you like corn kernels then give a try to this incredible dish.
