My today's post is from Northern part of Karnataka, this rava obbattu aka Sajjaka holige is quite popular there. Prepared with a simple rava and jaggery stuffing, this sweet flatbread will definitely please anyone's sweet tooth. And this sweet is made during the Dusshera/Dasara festival season. Happy Vinayagar Chathurthi Wishes

These mini dumplings dunked in milk sweetened with rock candy sugar is an interesting festive food to dish out. Yes you read it right, its a delicious delicacy to try with healthy ingredients in it. Actually i used rock candy sugar aka kalkandu instead of usual jaggery and sugar to sweeten this incredible dumplings. Since i dont want to make the usual rice flour dumpling i opted for the healthy millet grains aka the popular 'Foxtail Millet' which is known as Thinai in tamil. Paal Kozhukattai is well known in Chettinad cuisine of Tamilnadu region and its our family favourite as they suits prefectly to enjoy after a meal or else for snacks.

Ragi Paal Kozhukattai/Fingermillet Paal Kozhukattai - Version 2
Paal Kozhukattai, this is one among my favourite and now its my daughter's favourite, obviously i'll make this delectable dish often as they are very easy to prepare at home. I have already tried couple of versions with this healthy sweet dish. Paal kozhukattai can be prepared either with milk, coconut milk with sugar or else with jaggery syrup and coconut milk..This time i went for sugar and milk, this healthy ragi paal kozhukattais turned out super delicious.Instead of rolling the dough as small balls, i prepared them with murukku press. When the ragi dough pressed directly to the sweetened milk, gets cooks prefectly and makes this super delicious ragi paal kozhukattais.Sending to Pari's Only - Gluten Free Cooking.

Karupatti Pidi Kozhukattai/Palm Jaggery Sweet Dumplings
How about making an another interesting sweet dumplings for the Ganesh chathurthi, that too with palm jaggery. During my mom's recent trip to India, she came back with some palm jaggery which am adding in my tea or coffee instead of sugar, tastewise they dont change anything but somehow none at home like this jaggery. But am ok with it, since i want to finish some leftover jaggery, i tried making this sweet dumplings with them. Palm Jaggery rich in iron, it prevents diseases like anemia and also contains essential nutrients like magnesium and potassium. Magnesium is vital for the proper functioning of the nervous systems and the potassium regulates the blood pressure and the heart functions.
It purifies the blood, prevents rheumatism and is highly nutritious in value and plam aggery is also useful in combating problems like cough and stomach ailments like indigestion, acidity and constipation. Consumption of jaggery is useful for those who are exposed to pollution on a regular basis like industrial workers.Palm jaggery is a natural sweetner and energy food it is very rich in minerals. The benefits of palm jaggery include its ability to cleanse your body, act as a digestive agent, sweeten your food in a healthy manner, provide good amounts of minerals. Highly rich in calcium and make use of their goodness by adding constantly in your diet.Sending to my own event CWS-Rice guest hosted by Shruti Dhingra Wahi of Shurti Rasoi.

Keep the dough apart. Take a small piece from the dough n make as tiny small balls like seedai, can do any shape as u wish. While making balls close the left dough with a lid else it will get dry, use a bit oil while making balls so that they wont stick in ur palm.
Cook this small tiny balls in pressure cooker for 8 minutes in Idli plates, cook them in batch.
Meanwhile grind grated coconut with 1/2 hot water, strain it n keep the milk apart, this is first thick coconut milk..grind again grounded coconut with another half cup of water n strain the milk, this is second coconut milk..
