Emirati Khameer Bread/Traditional Khamir Flatbread from UAE

United Arab Emirates which is also known as UAE is also called simply as Emirates is a Federal sovereign absolute monarchy in Western Asia. And UAE is a federation of seven emirates which consists of Abu Dhabi which is the capital, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al-Quwain. Each emirate is governed by a ruler and all together jointly form the Federal Supreme Council. One of the ruler serves as the President of United Arab Emirates. The traditional food of Emirates is always rice, meat and fish. And their cuisine is adopted from many different countries which includes Indian cuisine as well. Today am showcasing one of the favourite bread of Emiratis. Yes Khameer Bread, this is one of the traditional bread of United Arab Emirates, and this bread is served for breakfast with cheese.

Emirati Khamir Bread, Khameer Bread

This round shaped bread with its golden top is usually prepared with dates as they are used either to sweeten the bread while the some uses saffron or turmeric to bring the flavor and colour to this bread. The original recipe which i got for dishing out this khameer used eggs. But i skipped completely the eggs here. This popular Emirati treat can be enjoy plain or eaten with honey, though this bread is usually enjoyed with cheese. You can also stuff this khameer bread with cream, nuts and dates for sweet stuffings while falafel, cheese, labneh or black olives can be stuffed for savory ones. Am running a month of blogging marathon with an interesting theme. My theme for this Mega marathon is A-Z International Flatbreads, obviously my today's post starts with the alphabet 'E' hence here comes the traditional flavoursome rich Emirati Khameer Bread.

I have hard of this bread and is sold in the local Middle Eastern Stores and they sell really like hot cakes. Good to know that it can be easily replicated at home.

adding fennel to any flatbread is very flavorful. Good share for letter E though I'd love to try the sweet version with dates.

We have been thinking alike for quite a few alphabets and I love your stove top version of the Khameer. I did not add fennel in mine and I am guessing that would have been so flavorful.
