Ala Badun (Srilankan Deviled Potatoes)

Who will say no to any sort of potato dish?? not me..i just love potato roast like anything..when i was googling for Srilankan potato dishes, i got hooked with this deviled potato fry which needs hardly few minutes to prepare... i prepared this yummy, spicy potato fry with simple and easy ingredients which is quite our usual spices, even i thought that srilankan dishes may need different spices and mostly prepared with coconut milk..its was completely wrong, they used to prepare many dishes as Tamilians with simple spices, but their curries and fries are quite spicy when compared to our's...Today our lunch menu was completely Srilankan cuisine, for lunch i prepared srilankan paruppu kari and fried eggplant curry..everything tastes fabulous and i'll be posting very soon the other two srilankan dishes which i prepared today for our lunch..Obviously this potato side dish goes to AWED - Srilanka guest hosted by Siri, event by DK...

5nos Potatoes (big)
2nos Onions (chopped finely)
1tsp Chilli powder
1tsp Red chilly flakes
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1no Cinnamon stick
1/2tsp Mustard seed (grounded)
5nos Curry leaves
Salt
1tsp Lime Juice

Boil the potatoes in hot water with salt, cut them into small bites..heat enough oil and add the curry leaves, onion pieces, mustard grounded powder and cinnamon stick..fry until the onions turns golden brown, meanwhile take the potatoes in a bowl and add the turmeric powder, chilly powder, red chilly flakes with salt(if needed) and mix well..add this spiced potatoes to the fried onion and keep on tossing until the potatoes gets slightly brown..

Discard the cinnamon stick and drizzle the lime juice on the top and serve hot!!
