Swiss roll or cream roll is a kind of sponge cake roll stuffed with either whipped cream, fruits or buttercream or sometimes simply with jam. A thin layer of batter prepared with flour, eggs and sugar baked in a sheet pan, spread with jam or buttercream, rolled up and served as round slices makes this roll. I have prepared this roll with usual measurements as christmas tree Patterned Swiss roll, filled with chocolate mascarpone cheese cream. This delicious vanilla swiss roll filled with a chocolate loaded mascarpone cream makes an excellent dessert after a meal. I carried this swiss roll cake to our Xmas dinner party and all our friends enjoyed thoroughly this incredible cake. I got so many appreciations for this cake, watelse we need na.
Am running this week's blogging marathon with Kid's delight - Cakes and cookies as theme, this swiss roll cake was a big hit among the kids, hence am posting this cake today. If you dont feel like baking with this kind of themed swiss roll cakes, you can still bake a simple vanilla flavoured swiss roll. However since i want to carry an attractive dessert i baked this christmass tree patterned swiss roll cake. Apart from piping the christmass tree with the cake batter, this swiss roll cake calls for usual preparation. Even the filling calls for an easy breezy preparation.
For Swiss Roll:
4nos Egg whites
4nos Egg yolks
1/2cup Flour
1/2cup Sugar
1tbsp Butter (melted)
1/2tsp Vanilla extract
Chocolate Mascarpone Cream:
1cup Mascarpone cheese
1/2cup Melted dark chocolate
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Beat the egg yolks, vanilla extract, sugar until they turns smooth and plate, add the flour, butter to them, mix everything well and keep aside.
Now whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peeks forms.
Fold the whipped egg whites to the already prepared batter, mix gently until they get well mixed.
Remove quarter cup of the batter, add the green food colour and transfer the batter to a piping bag.
Line a baking sheet over a swiss roll pan or a baking tray.Pipe the batter slowly over the christmas tree pattern or any pattern as you desire.
Bake it for 2minutes in the preheated oven.Spread the remaining vanilla flavoured batter to the already baked pattern.
Bake for 10-12minutes,until the top turns firm.
Remove the baking sheet carefully, transfer it to a damp towel, roll it to see the pattern clearly on the top.
Keep aside, let it cool completely. Meanwhile, mix the mascarpone cheese and melted chocolate together until the mixture turns creamy.
Spread this chocolate mascarpone cream over the baked cake and roll again tightly.
Arrange in fridge for few hours.
Slice it and enjoy
