Sweet Rava Pidi Kozhukattai-Version 2 /Semolina Sweet Dumplings with Jaggery

If you done have rice flour at home for making sweet dumplings aka kozhukattais for the upcoming Ganesh Chathurthi, dont worry my today's post will definitely makes you happy. Am sharing a very interesting pidi kozhukattai aka sweet dumpling today which is quite easy to prepare and serve to please the God Ganesha on his special day. Prepared simply with roasted rava/semolina, jaggery syrup, grated coconut flavoured with cardamom powder, this sweet dumpling gets ready in less time than you can imagine. Very easy to make this dumplings are completely vegan which suits prefectly to please anyone at home. If you dont know how to make Modaks, trust me this rava sweet dumplings will definitely replace those modaks very well for Ganesh chathurthi celebration.

I have already posted this Semolina sweet dumplings prepared with sugar here. This time, i went with jaggery syrup which makes this excellent and dangerously addictive sweet dumplings. Obviously if you dont have rice flour or yet to learn how to make modaks, am sure this dumplings is a must to give a try. With easy ingredients and simple cooking method, this semolina jaggery sweet dumplings makes an excellent festive food.

Semolina Jaggery Sweet Dumplings, Rava Pidi Kozhukattai

3/4cup Roasted Rava/Semolina
1+1/2cup Jaggery syrup
1/2tsp Cardamom powder
1/2cup Grated coconut
pinch Salt

If your rava is roasted proceed directly by boiling jaggery syrup else roast the rava in a pan until a nice aroma comes from.

Bring boil the jaggery syrup, add half of the grated coconut cardamom powder,salt.

Now add the rava to the syrup and cook until the mixture turns as a dough, let it cool a bit. Add the remaining grated coconut now, mix well.

Semolina Jaggery Dumplings, Sweet Semolina Pidi Kozhukattai

Take a small ball from the dough, press it with your fingers.

Place it to a greased idly plate, steam cook for 10 minutes.

Serve warm.
