Chickpeas Potato Kathi Roll/Channa Aloo Chappathi Wraps

Chickpeas, this beans are available all time of the year and its often found in grocery stores either as dried ones, tinned or else packed. Chickpeas are high in proteins, fiber with vitamins and minerals. The most common type of chickpeas are white/beige, but other varieties do exists. You can also find chickpeas as black, green and red variety. Originally cultivated in Mediterranean and in Middle East, this beans is also known as Garbanzo beans. Chickpeas are very much used in Indian cuisine, vegetarians add this beans often in their cooking and the most popular Indian dish with this beans is the famous Punjabi Pindi Chole. Served along with Bhature, a puffy fried beauty, this pindi chole is definitely a favourite dish of many Indians. Not to forget, this beans are cooked very much in many International cuisines. However being an Indian, i dont forget to add this ultimate beans in most of my dishes just to feed my small familly easily as this beans are loaded with proteins.

Garbanzo bean Rolls,Chickpeas Potato Kathi Roll

Am running a month of blogging marathon with Protein rich dishes as theme, i have been posting for more than a week for this fantastic theme. And today we are kick starting an another new week with many more delicious and protein rich dishes. Obviously i couldnt stop myself to post this super filling, delicious and very satisfying chappathi wraps which i prepared with some spicy potato and chickpeas filling. This filling is seriously one of the quickest dish you can prepare with less efforts if you have some cooked leftover chickpeas aside. Chopping onions, tomatoes and potatoes may take some time, else the filling gets ready very much easily and quickly than you can imagine. Trust me everyone at home enjoyed thoroughly this kathi rolls for their dinner. Wrapped inside a simply cooked chappathi, this rolls are seriously healthy to serve at anytime of the day. Make some if you want to feed with something nutritious to your family.

Aloo channa chappathi wraps

2nos Potatoes (chopped as small cubes)
2nos Onions
2nos Tomatoes
2cups Chickpeas (cooked)
1tsp Ginger garlic paste
1tsp Red chilli powder
1/2tsp Coriander powder
1/2tsp Cumin powder
Few Coriander leaves
Salt
Oil

Heat enough oil and fry the ginger garlic paste until it turns slightly brown, add the chopped onions and saute till transculent.

Add immediately the tomatoes, salt and cook until the tomatoes turns mushy.

Now add the cubed potatoes,cooked chickpeas, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and cook for few minutes.

Add some water and cook until the filling turns thick.Finally add the chopped coriander leaves and put off the stove.

For Rotis:
2cups Wheat flour
1tsp Oil
Water
Salt

Knead the flour, oil,water and salt together as stiff dough, cover it with damp cloth and keep aside.

After half an hour, make medium sized balls from the dough, roll it as small disc,

Roll it as thin rotis. Cook in a tawa on both sides.

For Kuchumber:
1no Tomato (sliced lengthwise)
1/4cup Onion (sliced finely)
Few coriander leaves
1tsp Lemon juice
Salt
Sugar

Mix all the vegetables together in a bowl, drizzle the juice,sprinkle salt and sugar, mix well.

Add in the coriander leaves, mix and keep in fridge.

Chickpeas Potato Kathi rolls

Assembling the Kathi Rolls:

Place a roti, fill it with enough kuchumber.Drop in enough potato-chickpeas filling.

Roll the roti tightly and serve whole immediately.
