Moelleux au Chocolat/ French Gooey Ooey Chocolate Sponge Cake

Moelleux au chocolat, which can be translate for English speakers as 'Softness in the Chocolate house' is quite an easy cake with four main ingredients. Egg,butter, chocolate and sugar along with less quantity of flour. Most of the moelleux au chocolat goes for all purpose flour along with cornflour or else simply with corn flour. This cake goes for less time to get ready. To prepare this cake, both the butter and chocolate are melted together, while the egg yolks whisked with the sugar to form a thick paste, which gives a denser finished product, and while the egg whites separated from the yolks are whipped to peak to make a lighter cake when this cake mixture is baked. However this cake makes an excellent dessert to serve after a meal, when served along with pastry cream or simply topped with whipped cream, one can enjoy thoroughly this ultimate cake.

Moelleux au Chocolat,French Chocolate Sponge cake

You can bake this gooey ooey chocolate cake as single serving cake with ramekins, however i prepared mine in a 7inch springform pan, as i baked this cake for a small get together. As i told earlier, this cake makes an excellent dessert especially for chocolate lovers.Actually this cake was in my to do list since a while though this cake calls for easy ingredients. Sometimes we dont even think of baking or preparing easy dishes even it takes very less time to get ready, am i rite na, voila this happened to me also, finally i baked this easy breezy cake. If you want to bake something easy to celebrate a special day or a special occasion also if you want to avoid cream loaded cake then this cake is definitely a must try. The number of eggs in this recipe will definitely shock you but trust me you wont regret baking this extremely delicious cake. Am running a month of blogging marathon with French cuisine as theme under Journey through the cuisine and today's letter is 'M' hence Moelleux au chocolat.

Recipe Source: Marmiton
5nos Eggs
200grams Dark chocolate bar
1cup Sugar
125grams Butter
1/2cup Cornflour

Preheat the oven to 350F, grease a springform pan or a round cake pan and line a baking sheet.

Separate the egg yolks and egg whites in two bowls.

Meanwhile melt the butter and dark chocolate bar in a microwave safe bowl in microwave oven for a minute, mix well and keep aside.

Add the sugar to the egg yolks and whisk for a while, add immediately the melted chocolate-butter mixture and whisk for a while.

Beat the egg whites until it forms a peak, now slowly fold the egg whites to the already prepared chocolate-flour mixture.

Pour the cake batter to the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25minutes.

Let it cool completely, dust generally the cake with confectioner's sugar.

Slice and enjoy with your favourite drink.
