I wanted to make some maida cake since a long and i tried making this beautiful looking cake during this weekend with a cup of maida (all purpose flour), actually this cake looks very much white, that y i have added some saffron strands and a pinch of yellow colour to give a slight yellowish colour to this cake..This maida cake goes for easy ingredients also gets ready in less minutes..Ghee plays an important role in this cake, if u use less ghee its will turns the cake more harder..Since diwali is around, i dont bother to make this sweet eventhough its goes for a large amount of ghee..
1cup Maida
1+1/4cup Sugar
1/4cup Water
1/4cup Water
3/4cup Ghee
Few Saffron strands
pinch of Yellow food colour
pinch of Yellow food colour
Heat few drops of ghee, roast the maida for few minutes, meanwhile make a sugar syrup with the sugar, saffron strands, food colour and water until the syrup gets two threads consistency..Add the roasted maida, ghee to the sugar syrup and cook until its leaves the sides of the vessel..Transfer this to a greased plate, cut as squares..
That looks very delicious, just like mysorepak. Must be really melting in the mouth.

Hello Priya,
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks really very nice. My suggestion is in all your recipes if you mention how much pieces you get for the given quantity. We can either increase or decrease the quantity of the ingredients according to our requirement. In this recipe how many pieces do you get? - UmaRaghu
very innovative thought ! happy Diwali & following you ;)
