Eggless Homemade Subway Sandwich Bread

Have you ever enjoyed having subway sandwich bread with your favourite filling, do you know those spongy sandwich bread can be made easily at home with simple ingredients. I would have went twice to Subway that too long back, yet i still remember their sandwich bread which are oblong in shape with spongy crust. While i was googling for a simple loaf bread recipe i crossed this site. Obviously i have bookmarked it and baked those soft crusty loaves for this year's Bake-a-thon. A baking event i will running during this whole month of december only on Mondays, wednesdays and fridays. Coming to this subway bread, this recipe calls for basic ingredients which we usually go for baking bread at home. And trust me its one of the easiest bread i have baked till now.

Eggless Subway Loaf, Subway Sandwich

However this bread is completely eggless, but not vegan. Though the dough calls for olive oil, butter is used finally to give some flavor for brushing on the baked sandwich loaves. Otherwise this bread can be baked as vegan also. Since i want to make these loaves flavourful, i couldnt stop myself brushing the freshly baked loaves with butter generously. The original recipe went with all purpose flour, but i have added a cup of whole wheat flour as i want these loaves to be bit healthy. These sandwich breads are just prefect to prepare your sandwich with your favourite fillings. And we had this bread for our dinner with an egg mayonnaise filling. Kids enjoyed thoroughly and am baking this bread quite often whenever we feel like having something filling as sandwiches at home.

2cups All purpose flour
1cup Wheat flour
1tsp Instant yeast
1tbsp Sugar
1tsp Salt
4tbsp Olive oil
Butter (for brushing)

Take both flours in a bowl, add the yeast sugar, salt, olive oil.

Slowly add the luke warm water and knead everything as a soft and smooth dough.

Grease a bowl and drop the kneaded dough in it. Wrap the bowl and arrange in warm place for an hour or two hours until the dough doubles its volume.

Punch the dough and divide the dough as 7-8 balls.

Dust the kitchen top and roll the ball as a medium sized log. Transfer and arrange it on the baking tray.

Continue the same process with the remaining dough.

Cover the baking tray with a towel and let it sit in warm place for an hour.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Bake for 20-25minutes until the loaves turns golden brown. Remove the baking tray from the oven.

Brush the loaves immediately with butter.

Cover the loaves with a towel and let them cool completely.

Make your sandwich with your favourite filling.
