Far Breton is a flan type cake from Brittany region of France. Apples, Raisins or Dried prunes are usually used for making this traditional cake, and its quite an easily and simple cake with easy available, pantry friendly ingredients. I am a great fan of this cake and i love to make this cake while my fruit baskets have apples abundantly. Its quite an easy cake to finish some apples quickly than dishing out some apple sauce with them. Kids will definitely enjoy this fabulous cake and its one of best way to sneak apples this way. Am allergic to apples and i cant eat them raw. Obviously i have bake or cook them before having. If i want to have enjoy apples for an aftermeal dessert, i cant think more than baking some baked goodies with this fabulous fruit. Apples are showing their heads in our local farmer's market. Apple is a Fall season fruit for us, and we get varieties of apples in our markets. I love Golden apples very much and they works awesome for making any sort of dishes with them.
Am running this week's blogging marathon with Seasonal fruits and vegetables as theme. Hence am posting an incredible dessert which i baked few days back for our Sunday lunch. Yes its Far breton tart. Far Breton is traditional Brittany region dessert, which is enjoyed after a meal when served chilled. In this tart, i followed the same recipe which i usually go for preparing Far breton but with a store bought pastry sheet to bake out a tart. If you are looking for a different dessert for your meal, dont forget to check this tart which makes everyone happy without any fail. Though i used apples in this tart, you can still prepare this tart with your favourite fruits which is easily available near you.
1 Puff Pastry sheet
1litre Milk
1/2cup Flour
1/2cup Sugar
2nos Apples (peeled & chopped)
2nos Eggs
pinch of Salt
Preheat the oven to 350F and grease and place the puff pastry sheet on a tart mould.
Mix the flour with the salt, the powdered sugar, the eggs and the milk and beat until everything gets well mixed.
Peel and chop the apples in small cubes and add it to the already prepared batter.
Pour this to the already prepared pastry sheet lined on a tart mould and bake it for about 40-45 minutes.
Dont open the oven while baking.
Once the far gets well cool, arrange in fridge and let it sit for an hour.
Slice the chilled Far breton tart and enjoy.
