Un Kurabiyesi/Turkish Shortbread Cookies

Un Kurabiyesi, extremely delicious melt in mouth Shortbread cookies from Turkey. These cookies tastes absolutely fabulous obviously you cant just stop munching these butter loaded cookies. These Deliciously light shortbread cookies are definitely an incredible treat at tea time. These cookies are seriously very easy and quick to make as this cookies calls for simple and basic ingredients. No egg is needed, butter, flour and sugar when combined together and flavored with vanilla extract makes this extremely addictive cookies. Some recipes of Un Kurabiyesi calls for baking powder and some may not, obviously i baked mine without baking powder. Traditionally this cookies are rolled as round shaped cookies or else rolled as long ropes which is later sliced as small sized cookies. Since i dont want to break my head with shaping, i just went with the round shaped ones. Dont get surprised if you are able to see Un Kurabiyesi in different shapes.

However shaping cookies doesnt matter na. Coming to this Un Kurabiyesi, everyone at home just enjoyed munching these buttery cookies for their snacks. Trust me i baked two batches of this cookies and they just get vanished within an hour as they were dangerouly addictive. I baked again for Hubby dear as he was working on that day. If you are planning to bake this Turkish shortbread cookies just prepare them in huge batch else you will regret latter. Very easy to prepare, you can prepare this cookie dough easily with less efforts. You might have noticed that am running a month of blogging marathon with A-Z baking around the world as theme. And this Un Kurabiyesi is going to be a part of this event.

Turkish Shortbread Cookies, Un Kurabiyesi

200grams Butter (room temperature)
1/2cup Powdered sugar
2cups Flour
1tsp Vanilla extract
Powdered sugar(for dusting/coating)

Beat the sugar, vanilla extract with butter until the mixture turns creamy.

Now add the flour and beat again until everything gets well mixed.

Knead the dough and pinch medium sized balls from the dough. Roll it well and place them on a baking sheet lined over a baking tray.

Preheat the oven to 350F and bake for 15-20minutes.

Either dust the cookies with powdered sugar once they comes out of the oven or else let them cool a bit, remove from the baking sheet and roll them well in powdered sugar.

Arrange in air-tightened box and enjoy.
