Chickpeas Shami Kebab/Vegetarian Channa Shaami Kebab

Shami Kebab or Shaami Kebab is quite a popular kebab variety which is mostly prepared with minced or ground meat though vegetarian versions with potato or paneer is quite popular as well.Shami kebab is eaten as snack or an appetizer. They are served along with sheer kurma during Eid celebrations.Do you know shaami kebabs may be served with roti along with ketchup, raita or chutney. Though most of us love shami kebab prepared with meats, not to forget that many vegetarian and vegan version do exists. And my today's post is a fantastic, dangerously addictive, vegan shami kebab with chickpeas as main ingredient. Prepared with variety of spices, this incredible vegan shami kebab makes an excellent evening snack to enjoy with your favourite sauce.

Vegetarian Shami kebab,Chickpeas shami kebab

Rolled either as round shaped patties or oval shaped patties, this vegetarian version of shami kebab will definitely please anyone's tastebuds. Chickpeas shami kebab is loaded with proteins and definitely wholesome. Simple to make, you can dish out this kebab either with Black chickpeas aka kala channa or else with white chickpeas aka channa. However this shami kebab goes for pan frying,eventhough you can simply bake them too. This kebabs are definitely gluten free and guilt free as well. Kids will enjoy thoroughly this pan fried oval shaped vegetarian kebabs with their favourite sauce. Give a try and feed your kids easily with this healthy and nutritious chickpeas with less efforts. And am showcasing chickpeas aka Garbanzo beans for this week with different delicious dishes i have dished out of this healthy legume.

Vegan Shaami Kebab, Channa kebab

3cups Cooked chickpeas
1no Onion (chopped)
1/2tsp Red chilly powder
1tsp Chopped green chilli
1tbsp Ginger (chopped)
4nos Garlic cloves
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
Chopped coriander leaves
2tbsp Gram flour/Besan
Salt
Oil for frying the kababs

Heat oil in a pan, add the chopped onions, chopped ginger, garlic cloves and saute for a while.

Take the cooked chickpeas, sauteed vegetables and blend as a coarse paste without adding water.

Meanwhile dry roast the gram flour until a nice aroma comes from, keep aside.

Add the garam masala powder, red chilly powder,chopped coriander leaves, roasted gram flour, salt and mix well.

Make medium sized balls from the mixture as roll as a oval shaped patties.

Pan fry the kebabs until they turns brown.

Serve hot with onion rings.

  19. usually shami kababs when veg are made using bengal gram but i always felt that chickpeas would treat them better , now that u made it, i am so sure
