Ragi Ribbon Pakoda/Fingermillet Ribbon Pakoda/Ragi Ola Pakoda

Deepavali is celebrated all over India either in the month of october or in November, but this time this festival falls on ocotober, however dunno whether i'll be able make some savouries or sweets to celebrate this festival of lights as i'll be very much busy with my studies, but however will plan to make some during weekends. As like every year, i miss terribly celebrating Deepavali in India, its been almost 20years now i miss the fun and celebration of this festival. Seriously am waiting for 'The' day to celebrate this famous festival in my hometown, fingers crossed.I picked Festival special as theme for this week's blogging marathon, and this festival special is going to be Deepavali savouries and sweets. Yes am going to share three beautiful dishes for this week's theme. I have prepared two savouries with whole grains and the sweet one is with whole wheat.

Ragi ola pakoda, fingermillet ribbon pakodas

One among those two savouries i have prepared for this week's theme is this Ragi aka fingermillet ribbon pakoda, this pakodas are usually prepared with usual gramflour and rice flour. But my today's version goes for the healthy, nutritious ragi flour aka fingermillet flour. We used to make couple of savouries back in India for this festival, after murukku , this pakodas are the must at home, my mom is an expert in making Deepavali savouries and her ribbon pakodas are the best in the world.Adding ragi flour to the usual pakoda dough gives an interesting twist.Beware, these pakodas are dangerously addictive and you wont munching them if you make at home.Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM#45.

2cup Ragi flour/finger millet flour (roasted)
1cup Gramflour
1/4cup Rice flour
1tbsp Sesame seeds
1tbsp Butter
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
Salt
Oil for deepfrying

Take the ragi flour, gramflour, rice flour, asafoetida powder, salt , sesame seeds, butter in a large bowl, gradually add the water and knead as a soft and stiff dough..

Heat the oil for deepfrying.

Meanwhile take the murukku press with the ribbon nozzle, put a ball of this dough and press directly to the hot oil.

Fry the ribbon pakoda on both sides until they gets well cooked.

Drain the excess of oil with a paper towel and arrange in a an air tightened box.

Enjoy for snacks.
