Okra Curry/Varuthu Aracha Vendakka Poriyal

One of my family favourite veggies are okras, its might sounds somewat particular coz  most of the kids wont love this sticky veggies, even my younger son love this okras as any form and he loves it...For our today's lunch i prepared this delicious okra curry with a special spice powder instead of using sambhar powder as i dont want to make the usual okra curry, ofcourse i prepared myself an interesting spice powder using coriander seeds, peppercorns, fennel seeds, poppyseeds, dry red chillies, channadal and dessicated coconut..This curry tastes super delicious when served along with hot piping rasam or with curd rice.We enjoyed this delicious vendakka poriyal for our lunch with curd rice, both together turned out our lunch simply awesome..Sending this delicious curry to CWS-Coriander Seeds guest hosted by Aruna, event by me..

Okra curry

1/2kg Okra (chopped as small pieces)
1no Onion(big & chopped finely)
2nos Green chillies (slit opened)
1tsp Mustard seeds+urad dal
Few curry leaves
Oil
Salt

To Dry roast & Grind:
1tbsp Coriander seeds
1tsp Peppercorns
1/2tsp Cumin seeds
1/2tsp Fennel seeds
1tsp Poppyseeds
1tbsp Channadal
2tbsp Dessicated coconut
3nos Dry red chillies

Grind as spice powder by dry roasting all the ingredients given in the list and keep aside..Heat enough oil, lets splutters the mustard seeds & urad dal, add immediately the chopped onions, slit opened green chillies, saltand saute until the onions turns transculent, meanwhile heat few drops of oil, fry the chopped okra bites for few minutes until they get half cooked..add the grounded spice powder and partially cooked okras to the cooking veggies, cook in simmer until the okra pieces gets well coated with the spices and cooked well..

Enjoy hot with curd rice or rasam rice..
