Karapu Annam / Chilly Rice

Karapu Annam, one of the specality spicy rice from Andhra(telugana region) recipes..this rice is one of my favourite, i prepare them often whenever i feel like having something spicy..its really very easy to prepare, if u prepared the special spicy powder already..this rice goes awesome with boiled eggs r papads, they looks like tamarind rice, but a bit spicy..we know very well that Andhra dishes r mainly well known for spiciness, i love their traditionally prepared sun-dried tomato pickles, which my aunt prepare often n send them, thrice every year when i was in Pondicherry..now am far away n missing everything..but somehow managing to prepare some spicy recipes originated from Andhra..

For the Spice Powder:
1/4cup Coriander seeds
2tbsp Cumin seeds
10nosRed chillies
1tbsp Sesame Seeds
5nos Garlic pods
salt

2cup Cooked rice
1tbsp Oil
1/4tsp Mustard seeds
1/4tsp Urad dal
1/4tsp Channadal
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
20nos Peanuts
5nos Curry leaves

Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds in medium flame until they turn slightly brown.. now dry roast the red chillies for a while...take a mixie jar add all the roasted ingredients, add the garlic pods n salt n grind them bit coarsely..This is the famous spice powder for this rice..

Heat the oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, asafoetida powder, peanuts n curry leaves n let them splutters..now add this hot oil to the already cooked rice..add 1 r 2 tsp as per ur taste of the spice powder to the rice n mix everything well...

Karapu Annam is ready...serve them with boiled eggs r else with Papads..

Conserve this spice powder in an air tightened box, will be very perfect for a month..
