Kentucky Butter cake, if you are looking for a highly rich and super spongy pound cake like cake, then you should give a look at this fantastic cake. As the name says, this cake calls for butter as main ingredient. Obviously butter cake is baked with basic ingredients: Butter, sugar, eggs, flour and leavening agents (baking powder or baking soda). This cake is considered as one of the quintessential cakes from the list of cakes do exists in American baking. Butter cake sounds like the popular English pound cake which calls for equal amount of butter, flour, sugar and eggs. The spongy texture of the cake will definitely please anyone's tastebuds. Yes this cakes calls for creaming method in which the butter and sugar are beaten until they turns pale and fluffy to incorporate air into the butter.
Am running this week's blogging marathon with an interesting theme 'Do either US states sweets or Indian states sweets', needless to say this extremely rich and moist butter cake go for this week's theme. Though this butter cake is extremely rich, they stays prefect if stored at room temperature. Dont ever store them in fridge, it may tends to dry the cake, and lose the flavor. However this cake doesnt asks for any frosting, as you need to make a simple butter sauce to keep the butter cake more moist. The butter sauce poured over the hot cake makes this cake ultimately succulent. Do give a try to this fantastic cake if you are planning for a celebration.

For Cake:
1cup Butter (room temperature)
2cups Sugar
3cups All purpose flour
4nos Eggs (slightly beaten)
1tsp Vanilla extract
1tsp Baking powder
1/2tsp Baking soda
1cup Buttermilk
Butter Sauce:
3/4cup Sugar
1/3cup Butter
2tbsp Water
2tsp Vanilla extravt
Preheat the oven to 325F, grease a bundt cake with butter generously, dust the pan with the flour and remove the excess the flour once the pan gets well coated with the flour.
Sift the flour with baking powder, baking soda, keep aside.
Take the butter, sugar in a bowl, beat well until the mixture turns pale and fluffy.
Slowly add the eggs, beat for a while, add in the sifted flour,vanilla extract, butter milk and mix well until the batter turns smooth.
Pour the batter to the greased mould and bake for 60-65minutes or until the skewer inserted comes out clean.
Meanwhile, take the ingredients for the sauce in a pan, heat in low flame until the sugar gets completely dissolved.
Remove the cake from the oven, poke holes with a skewer, pour immediately the butter sauce, let the cake sit in kitchen counter, until it gets cool completely.
Transfer the cake to a plate, dust it with powdered sugar generously.
Slice and enjoy with your favourite drink.
