Have you ever tried your hands in making pooris aka buns with banana, then you should have a look to this puffy beauties. Mangalore Banana buns are quite famous in both Udupi-Manglore, though these buns are popularly called as Mangalore buns. Its an excellent evening tea time snack prepared with over ripen bananas along with both wheat flour and all purpose flour or else just with all purpose flour. A delicious pooris to give a try if you have some overripe bananas sitting in your fruit baskets. Trust me these puris are extremely spongy and puffy.
Am posting this Fried Mangalore banana buns today as i was challenged to dish out a monsoon treats with my secret ingredients given by Rafeeda for this month's Shhh Cooking Secretly, started by myself and now the event is taken by Mayuri Patel. Mayuri paired me with Rafeeda sis, and she gave me bananas and cumin seeds as my secret ingredients. Since this month's theme was Monsoon treats, i couldnt resist to dish out these puffy deep fried banana buns which suits absolutely prefect to go under this theme. These banana pooris are dangerously addictive, you cant stop munching this puffies.

1 large Overripe banana
1cup All purpose flour
3tsp Sugar
1/2tsp Baking powder
1/4tsp Baking soda
2tbsp Yogurt
Salt
3/4tsp Cumin seeds
Oil for deep frying
Mash the banana with fingers as smooth paste, dont grind. Add the salt, cumin seeds, yoghurt, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, mix well until the sugar gets dissolves.
Now add slowly the all purpose flour and knead everything as a pliable and soft dough as like chapathi dough.
Keep aside for 2 hours, make small balls from the dough. Dust the balls and roll with rolling pin as small thick round discs.
Heat oil for deep frying, deep fry the rolled balls one by one until they gets puffed.
Remove from oil and drain the excess of oil with paper towel.
Serve with chutney.
