If you are wondering how to make a checkerboard dinner rolls, dont hesitate a second to go through my today's post. Why am posting checkerboard dinner rolls, i have a reason for it. I picked checkerboard theme as this week's theme of blogging marathon. To bake a checkerboard dinner rolls, you need to just prepare two colour yeasted doughs and bake them out as this cute looking checkerboard theme dinner rolls. My today's post calls for an eggless version of yeasted dough which i simply prepared with a chocolate yeasted bread dough and a usual bread dough. Sine i want to bake some easy breezy dinner rolls i dont want to shape them, hence a simple shaped dinner rolls.
Actually i planned to go with a spiced yeasted dough but i couldnt resist to bake some sweet dinner rolls. Served with butter, jam or else simply with honey, one can happily finish their breakfast or snacks without any fuss with this dinner rolls. Since i dont want to run behind eggs, i prepared eggless bread doughs to bake these cute looking checkerboard sweet dinner rolls. You can freeze these dinner rolls very well if you want to have these soft and spongy rolls later. Once re-heated, you can have this cuties very well with your favourite spread.
For Dough:
1cup Lukewarm milk
1+1/2tsp Active dry yeast
1tsp Vanilla Extract
1tsp Sugar (for yeast)
3tbsp Sugar
2+1/2cup All purpose flour
1/4tsp Salt
40grms Butter (melted)
Take the flour,salt,sugar and melted butter,vanilla extract in a bowl, mix it for few minutes.
Combine the milk,yeast,sugar in a small bowl and keep for 5minutes.
Add this yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead until you get a smooth,elastic dough.
The dough be soft and elastic but not sticky,if its sticky add more flour if needed.
Shape the dough as a ball and place it in a greased bowl, cover and let it rise for an hour.
For Chocolate Dough:

2tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
1+1/2tsp Instant yeast
1tsp Sugar (for yeast)
3tbsp Sugar
2+1/2cup All purpose flour
1/4tsp Salt
40grms Butter (melted)
Take the flour,salt,sugar,cocoa powder and melted butter in a bowl, mix it for few minutes.
Combine the milk,yeast,sugar in a small bowl and keep for 5minutes.
Add this yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead until you get a smooth,elastic dough.
The dough be soft and elastic but not sticky,if its sticky add more flour if needed.
Shape the dough as a ball and place it in a greased bowl, cover and let it rise for an hour.
Now punch down both dough and divide each dough as 8 medium sized balls. Roll them well to form round shaped balls and place one by one in a greased square baking pan as checkerboard pattern.
Let them sit in a warm place. Preheat the oven to 350F, meanwhile brush the top of the dinner rolls with milk.
Bake for 20-25minutes in middle rack, let them cool completely.
Enjoy with your favourite spread.
