Are you surprised to read the name of this post???may be but am not coz this fenugreek tea has been prepared since quite a long here at home, this fenugreek tea have numerous healthy benefits and also good for health, u can prepare this fenugreek tea either by soaking the fenugreek seeds or by boiling the fenugreek seeds in water..Rich in vitamins and minerals, this tea helps in increasing the supply of milk in nursing mothers and nourishes the baby also.Fenugreek tea is very beneficial for type-2 diabetic patients. It helps in reducing hot flushes and other menopausal symptoms.
Fenugreek seeds are very effective in curing a disease called beri beri, caused due to deficiency of Vitamin B.It helps in inducing and easing labor in pregnant women.Fenugreek tea cleans kidneys and intestines and minimizes the risk of heart attacks. It reduces the level of cholesterol and blood sugar.Since fenugreek tea suppresses appetite, it is effective in weight loss. The tea is consumed to get relief from constipation, indigestion and muscle pains. I prepared this tea just by boiling the fenugreek seeds and enjoyed them warn, never use the grounded fenugreek seeds for making this tea..
1tbsp Fenugreek seeds
1cup Water
Bring the water to boil, add the fenugreek seeds and boil them for 5 minutes..remove from the heat, let them sit for again for 10-15minutes..pour this fenugreek tea through a strainer to remove the seeds, drink immediately or stor in fridge to drink later, u can drink either sweetened or unsweetened, but i'll advice to drink them as unsweetened tea either chilled or warm...

ReplyDeleteits not only a tasty tea but a very handy home remedy too
ReplyDeleteI always make this at home :) Let me tell you priya, this should be avoided in pregnancy. Maybe after 36 weeks, one can consume this for smooth and painless delivery. This should not be consumed at all in early pregnancy, not even 2nd trimister (it can cause bleeding, miscarriage, abortion etc.). In ayurveda this is beneficial for women with menstrual disorders. Will try and post more details when I blog this recipe, sometime soon :)

ReplyDeleteVery informative post Priya! I'm a coffee drinker, but would give this a try just for the health benefits!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about this till now. My mom tried this for diabetes a long time back. All I remember is that she broke out in rashes and had a terrible stomach upset. Then the Ayurvedic Vaidya had told her to drink it cold during the hot summer months - since methi has a hot "taaseer" to it (sorry- don't know the english of this). My mom could never tolerate it though- strange as she could eat the seed in other forms- like in pickles and curries etc.
ReplyDeleteFenugreek Tea is a wonderful idea.. usually I soak fenugreek in water for couple of hours and drink it. I believe boiling will help the flavors to infuse faster.
ReplyDeleteU are rite Priya. This is such a great drink and its time we changed to drinking stuffs like this, isn't it....
ReplyDeleteI never tried on such herbal tea...but I must take interest in fenugreek tea. I will try it some time..I always use slightly roasted sprouted fen. seeds in salads to get some nutritional supplement.
ReplyDeleteHealthy Joints because of this? I should suggest this to my parents. They have issues during cold seasons. Looks really good. I would love it for an entirely different reason. Lose weight, ofcourse!
