Mixed Vegetable Kootu With Rasam Powder

Simple, easy, quick n tasty Kootu... with handful of fresh vegetables this kootu goes very well with hot rice topped with ghee r else side dish for hot steaming Idlies as well as for dosais...as rasam powder contains peppercorns, coriander seeds, cumin seeds n red chillies, they will tastes as we do sambhar (varuthuaracha sambhar)..they r mildly spicy n heavenly tasty..can also feed the kids very easily...


2Cups Mixed Vegetables
1/4cup Toor dal
1/4cup Split Moongdal
1no Onion Chopped
1no Tomato chopped
2nos Green chillies slit opened
1/2tsp Mustard seeds n urad dal
1no Dry red chilly
5nos Curry leaves
1tsp Rasam powder
Salt
Oil

wash thoroughly both dals n pressure cook them upto 3 hisses.. Heat 2tsp of oil in a pan n add the mustard seeds, urad dal n red chilly n let them splutters...now add the onion, slit opened green chillies, tomatoes pieces n stir them continously until onions turns transculent n tomatoes turns mushy..add the mixed vegetables, curry leaves to the pan n stir them unti they get a bit cooked, add the cooked dals to the veggies, with salt n rasam powder n bring them to boil, put now the flame in simmer, close the lid n cook them for 15 minutes...put off the stove..

Can also add 1/4cup of grated coconut to the kootu...

Serve hot with rice topped with ghee...
