Murmura Chivda/Spiced Puffed Rice Chivda

Looking for a quick, easy breezy munchies for your sudden cravings or to have for mid-day hunger pangs, dont forget to check this incredibly delicious puffed rice chivda. With your favourite nuts and spices, you can dish out this chivda quickly with less efforts. Since this dish call for less oil, one can munch these murmura chivda with any sort of the beverages of their choice for an evening snacks or around 11 o'clock in the morning. Yes this chivda is a prefect munchies to enjoy if you want to have something light and spicy before your lunch. However puffed rice is very much used in Indian cuisine and puffed rice can be munch even without any spices. But i simply love this chivda as it will be bit spicy and nutty at the same.

Khara pori, Murmura Chivda

You can add any nuts of your choice, but i always love to add peanuts and cashewnuts to dish out this simple quick-fix munchies. Spiced usually with turmeric powder and chilly powder, you can also add some vegetable to give an another healthy twist to this chivda. However this version of chivda stays long, yes more than a week if they are conserved properly in an air-tightened box. Am running this week's blogging marathon with How about Elevenses as theme, and this theme is quite an interesting one. Yes this theme calls for light snacks or drinks, one can indulge around 11 o'clock in the morning between the breakfast and lunch. After a healthy vegan millet based biscuits, my today's post aka murmura chivda goes for this week's theme.

Murmura Chivda, Kara pori

4cups Puffed rice/Murmura/Pori
1/4cup Raw peanuts
1/4cup Cashewnuts
1tsp Chilly powder
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
Few curry leaves
1tsp Oil
1/2tsp Mustard seeds
2 Dry red chillies
Salt

Dry roast the puffed rice until they turns crisp.

Heat oil in a pan, let splutters the mustard seeds, and fry the dry red chillies, the curry leaves.

Now add the raw peanuts,cashews and fry in simmer until they turns brown.

Murmura chivda

Add in the dry roasted puffed rice, saute everything for few minutes together,put off the stove.

Finally add the chilly powder,salt, toss everything well until everything gets well mixed.
