Vegan Aloo Pulao/Gluten Free Potato Pulao

Hectic days doesnt need an elaborate meals, however you can dish out some super filling dishes in an ease with our Indian cooking gadgets. Indian style pressure cookers are real blessing especially when you have time to make something special to pack either in your lunchbox or else for a quick meal. I have been cooking with Indian pressure cookers since a long as they are seriously very handy to cook dishes quickly without any difficulties. My today's post is one of the quickest pulao i have dished out few days back for a meal. Yes easy peasy Aloo pulao with mild spiciness and aroma. No tomatoes, no ginger garlic paste is needed to dish out this vegan and gluten free one potmeal. Just spiced with garam masala,turmeric powder and chilly powder, this delicious pulao is a prefect dish to pack quickly and easily with less cooking process.

Vegan Aloo Pulao

Am running this week's blogging marathon with Dish under 30 minutes as theme, and needless to say that i will be posting three different and easy breezy dishes for this week's theme. Hence am kick starting this week's theme with a flavourful Potato pulao. This pulao takes less than 20 minutes to get ready. Since this one pot meal calls for Indian pressure cooker, trust me you make this pulao easily. Apart from chopping onion and potatoes, you doesnt need anything exceptional to do with. Served along with a gourmet gravies, one can enjoy this pulao without any fuss. I used cubed potatoes, in case if you want more healthy and colourful, dont forget to add mixed vegetables to this same pulao.

Potato Pulao, Potato Pilaf

2nos Potatoes (big & cubed)
2cups Basmati rice
1no Onions(big & chopped)
1tsp Garam masala powder
1/2tsp Pepper powder
1/2tsp Cumin seed powder
Salt
Oil
2nos Bay leaves
1tsp Shah jeera
1 Cardamom
1 Star anise

Wash and soak basmati rice for 5minutes with 4cups of water.

Meanwhile heat enough oil in a pressure cooker, fry the bay leaves, shah jeera, star anise and cardamom.

Immediately add the chopped onions with salt,cook until the onions turns transculent.

Vegan & Gluten free Aloo Pulao

 Add the chopped potatoes and sauté along with garam masala powder, pepper powder and cumin powder, until the potatoes get half cooked.

Strain the soaked water from the basmati rice and add to the cooking veggies, bring to boil.

Add the soaked rice to the cooking water, cook for three whistles and put off the stove

Once the steam get released, with a fork, fluff the rice.

Serve along with papads, raitas.

Pulaos are a saviors when pressed for time. With some raitha or jsut plain yogurt, it is a filling meal.

Pressure cooker is a much needed gadget in my kitchen too. It makes life easier. This pulao looks awesome Priya. I need to learn the cooking of rice in pressure cooker. Whenever I make it turns mushy.

My son loves only potato in pulao and exactly the way you cooked and it came out. Loved this vegan version of one pot meal pulao. perfect lunch box tiffin and kids friendly
