Sugo alla puttanesca is one of the traditional sauce recipe which is quite an easy, delicious recipe to put all together. Puttanesca sauce recipe may varies depending upon the regions, Neapolitan version of puttanesca is prepared without anchovies. Sugo alla puttanesca aka Puttanesca sauce is a little salty sauce with wonderful flavor. This sauce is prepared with capers, olives and anchovies with garlic. Traditionally this sauce is served along with Spaghetti, yes Spaghetti alla puttanesca is one of the famous pasta dish though this sauce is also paired with penne, linguine and vermicelli.

Sugo alla puttanesca, Puttanesca Sauce

Am running this week's blogging marathon with 'Italian Sauces', and this week's posts are going to be some delicious, flavoursome rich sauces. I couldnt think more than making this simple sauce for this week's theme. I grabbed this sauce from Itaian Food Forever. The author of the site says that the story behind this dish is that it was created by street walkers around Naples, Italy after a long evening at work. Those workers prepared this dish just by throwing easily available ingredients quickly which was cheap.

Puttanesca Sauce, Sugo all Puttanesca

2cups Pureed Canned Tomatoes
2nos Garlic cloves (minced)
3nos Anchovies (chopped)
4tbsp Capers
1cup Olives (pitted and quatered)
2tbsp Tomato paste
Salt
Pepper powder
1/4tsp Chilly Flakes
Olive oil

Heat the oil in a medium sauce pan and add the garlic, saute until a nice aroma comes from.

Add the tomatoes, and then the olives, anchovies, capers and tomato paste and cook everything well

Add the salt, pepper powder and red pepper flakes.

Cook everything well until the sauce turns saucy and thick.

Serve with cooked spaghetti.
