English muffins, i have some fond memories of this incredible breakfast dish. I had this English muffins with eggs benedict few years back when we visited our French friends who lives in Normandy region. I must say that this cute, small, round and flat yeasted bread was one of my favourite breakfast food when they are toasted and buttered. You can dish out some cute sweet and savory sandwiches with this stove top cooked English muffins. English muffins are sold in all British supermarkets and also in many bakeries. You can bake this english muffins in large quantity and freeze them, which is seriously very handy to make your favourite sandwiches out of it when you dont have enough time to buy your bread.
Do you know the popular Mc Muffin which is sold in fast food Mc Donald's is basically prepared with English muffins. And their Egg McMuffin is a sandwich version of Eggs benedict. Coming to this week's blogging marathon, my theme for this week is Famous Breakfast from Different places. After two interesting breakfast foods from Bulgaria and France, my today's popular breakfast dish is from United Kingdom. If yeast god behaves good with you, these fantastic English muffins are seriously very easy to prepare at home. I got this English muffins from King Arthur Flour site, the original recipe calls for an egg which is skipped here and went with more milk.
Recipe Source: Here
4+1/2cups All purpose flour
2tsp Instant yeast
2tbsp Sugar
50grams Butter
2cups Milk
1tsp Salt
Semolina (for sprinkling the baking tray)
Take the flour, yeast, sugar, butter, salt in a bowl, add the luke warm milk and need everything as a smooth dough.
Knead the dough well until the dough turns super soft and elastic. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and cover it with a towel.
Keep the bowl in a warm place until the dough rise double in volume.
Now punch the dough and divide the dough into 16pieces, roll each ball as smooth ball and flatten the balls. Sprinkle generously semolina on a baking sheet lined baking tray.
Transfer the muffins to it and cover them, let them sit for 20 minutes.
Heat a pan or griddle, drop the muffins and cook on both sides until the crust turns brown in colour

perfectly baked, Priya.
Hi Priya,
Shall we bake instead of cooking on tawa?
@KavithaYes ofcourse, please preheat your oven to 180C/350F, and bake for 10-15minutes depending upon the size of your muffins, dont forget to turn once a while.
