Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce

Nothing can beat homemade spice powders, sauces or else dips. Since they are homemade no preservatives are added, hence they are harmless for the health of our family members. Though some sauces or spice powders are seriously hard to be prepared as homemade, we dont have any other choice than picking them stores. However if you have an option to prepare yourself the spice powders or sauces at home, dont hesitate a second as they may be sometime very easy to dish out. Coming to my today's post, I am an ardent fan of chinese dishes.Obviously i love to prepare their dishes often at home. Some of the chinese sauces are seriously hard to prepare eventhough few of their sauces can be prepared at home with less efforts. One among those sauces is my today's recipe aka Chinese Sweet and sour sauce.

Chinese Sweet and sour sauce is one among the popular sauce used very much in Chinese cuisine. Used mainly in quick stir fry recipes in China, this sauce is seriously very easy to prepare. There are many variations of chinese sweet and sour sauce do exists. Some use tomato sauce while some use vinegar and sugar to prepare this easy breezy sauce. If conserved properly in fridge this simple sauce stays very much prefect for months. Not to forget that this sauce is seriously handy to dish some delicious chinese stir fries to enjoy with a bowl of rice or noodles.My today's post goes to this week's blogging marathon as i picked 'Condiments' as theme.

Sweet Sour Sauce, Chinese Sauce

Recipe Source: Here
2 Garlic cloves (minced)
1tsp Ginger (minced)
1tsp Scallion (chopped)
Oil

For Sauce:
4tbsp Tomato ketchup
1/2cup Water
1tsp Rice vinegar
1tsp Sugar
Salt
3tsp Cornstarch


Heat the oil in pan or wok, add garlic, green onions and ginger and  stir-fry until a nice aroma comes from.

Meanwhile take the tomato ketchup,water, rice vinegar, sugar, salt in a bowl, mix well.

Now pour this prepared sauce to the pan, bring everything to boil.

Chinese sweet sour sauce

Mix the corn starch with enough water to make a thick past. And this cornstarch mix to the boiling sauce.

Keep stirring until the sauce turns thick.

Let it cool completely and conserve it in an air tightened bottle.

The Chinese sauce has a beautiful color so pretty . The flavors of the sauce sound perfectly balanced , how I wish I could eat a Chinese dish made from this sauce.

Priya your home made sweet and sour sauce looks so good. Brought back memories when years ago a Chinese Chef came to my sister in law's place and he taught us how to make this sauce.

this is one of the Chinese dishes I stay far away from I usually find it sickeningly sweet. but I think your homemade version is probably better than the take out restaurant version!
