Sweet Whole Moongdal Kozhukattai

Few days back i prepared a sweet stuffing with a combo of both sweet potato and whole moongdal for making some sweet parathas, everyone at home loved that interesting and healthy stuffing a lot..Thats why i again tried preparing some sweet dumplings simply this time with whole moongdal, this stuffing is definitely very simple,u doesnt need to soak the moongdal, just pressure cook them until they turns soft and cook along with jaggery syrp, cardamom powder and grated coconut, your filling is ready to make anything...I love steam cooked sweets especially kozhukattais..Immediately i prepared some kozhukattais with this whole moongdal filling for our evening snacks and we enjoyed it a lot..Healthy snacks to enjoy without any guilt, even my lil one loved having this filling sweet kozhukattais for his snacks.

Sweet moongdal kozhukattai

For cover:
1cup Riceflour
1+1/4cup Water
Salt (a pinch)
1tbsp Oil

For Stuffing:
1cup Whole moongdal (pressure cooked &mashed)
3/4cup Jaggery
1/4cup Grated coconut
1tsp Cardamom powder

Bring boil the water with salt and oil,add slowly the rice flour and mix it continously with a spatula, put off the heat and close the vessel with a lit, keep aside for 15minutes, then with a wet hands, mix the dough well and make medium sized balls from the cooked rice dough..

Meanwhile take the jaggery in a pan with quarter cup of water, bring everything to boil.

Strain this jaggery syrup and reheat along with mashed whole moongdal, cardamom powder and grated coconut, cook everything in medium flame until the mixture turns thick, put off the stove and let them cool completely.

Make medium sized balls with this filling and keep aside..

Flatten the rice balls with ur greased fingers as small pooris, place the whole moongdal filling and seal the edges together, roll well as a round balls.

Steam cook the kozhukattais for 15-20minutes..Enjoy warm..
