Srilankan Rolls

Srilankan rolls, famous evening snacks in Sri Lanka.. i tasted this rolls from the first time here in Paris when we went for shopping, after a long and hectic shopping day we had this rolls in a srilankan tea shop in La Chapelle, i fallen completely for this rolls and learned immediately through a friend, i often prepare this delicious spicy snacks whenever we wish to have for ..This ressembles very much like our rolls that we prepare with wheat or maida dough but the only thing i loved in this rolls is the crispy outer cover.. the difference between our usual rolls and srilankan rolls is these srilankan rolls are rolled in bread crumbs and deep fried, so they will have a crispy outer cover..they stays prefect for a week in fridge, u can reheat very well in oven and they will be crispy once they come out of the oven..When we go to any srilankans function, we always use to have this srilankan rolls, its takes a important place in all Srilankan functions..I learnt this from one of my srilankan friend, its a time consuming snacks but its really very worth to try out...This delicious vegetarian srilankan rolls goes to AWED-Srilanka guest hosted by Siri of Siri's Corner, event started by DK..
20nos Frozen Spring roll Sheets
1cup Cooked potatoes
1/2cup Carrot pieces
1/2cup Green peas
2nos Onions (chopped)
2tbsp Ginger (smashes)
2nos Green chillies (chopped)
5nos Curry leaves (chopped)
1tsp Chilli powder
1/2tsp Cumin seed powder
Oil
Salt

For Batter & Rolling:
2tbsp Wheat flour
1no Egg
1/4cup Bread crumbs

Heat enough oil in a pan, add the chopped onions, smashed ginger, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and saute them until the onions turns transculent, add the carrot pieces, green peas and cook in simmer with cumin seed powder, chilli powder and salt for few minutes..finally add the cooked potatoes and mix well..cook for 2 mins in low flame..put off the flame and keep aside..

Thaw the frozen sheets for few minutes, place the vegetable masala in the spring roll sheet and roll them tightly as rolls..meanwhile make a thin batter with wheat flour, eggs..dip the rolled rolls in the thin batter and roll it over the bread crumbs evenly..roll it evenly else while frying the rolls may break..keep in fridge for few minutes before frying..Deep fry in medium high flame, drain the excess of oil in a paper towel..

Serve hot with any sauce of ur choice!!
