1/2can Tomato puree
1no Onion (chopped lengthwise)
3cups Cooked Basmati Rice
3/4cup Paneer pieces
1tbsp Soya sauce
1tsp Garam masala powder
1/2tsp Pepper powder
1/4tsp Red chilly powder
2tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
2nos Bay leaves, Cloves n cinnamon sticks
Oil
Salt
While cooking the basmati rice add few drops of oil, this helps to keep the rice grains not to stick..Heat enough oil in a large pan, add the bay leaves, cloves n cinnamon sticks n fry them until they turns brown, saute now the onion pieces, tomato puree with soya sauce,garam masala powder,salt, pepper powder n red chilly powder n stir everything continously until the oil get separates, add immediately the paneer cubes n toss gently for a while...add the already cooked basmati rice , chopped coriander leaves n mix gently everything until they get well mixed..

10nos Broccoli florets
1no Onion chopped
2nos Green chillies chopped
1tsp Fennel seed powder
3nos Curry leaves
1tsp Ginger pieces
2tbsp Coriander leaves
Salt
Oil for deepfrying
Soak the channa dal for atleast 2 hours, drain the water n grind them as coarse paste, meanwhile chop finely the broccoli florets, add the chopped broccoli florets, chopped onion pieces, chopped green chillies, fennel seed powder, curry leaves, ginger pieces, coriander leaves and salt to the channa dal paste n mix everything well with ur fingers...
Heat the oil for deepfrying, take a small ball from the vada batter, flatten them in ur palms n drop gently one by one to the hot oil, fry the masal vadais in small batches until they get golden colour...drain the excess of water with a paper towel...
Serve hot with Tomato n Paneer Fried Rice, an excellent pair!!!

Panner and tomato is yum but I am drawn to Broccoli vadi, I make with Spinach, Broccoli is even better! :)

Love it Priya,the rice is very innovative and the vadai is very very new to me.Never ever tried broccoli in a vadai.

I too love vadai with rice!! Especially rasam or sambar rice. Using broccoli in masal vadai is a nice idea and who will say no to the tomato paneer combo??

what a nice way to use up brocollis! and that rice made into a ball reminds me of how my grandmom used to feed us rice..she would keep them as tiny balls on the plates and we are free to have "toppings' of veggies of our choice..it was soo much fun and we used to eat the veggies too!

Great..loved the rice..n broccoli is something I so much want to use,but never gets to take inside..I dont like it actually..hehe..This could be a great way to gulp that in..:)
