Milagai Killi Sambhar

Need something as gravy??  should be easiest one also simple u need to try this sambhar, prefect for beginners also for bachelors...this is one of my grandma's special..no need of sambhar powder..i'll prepare this delicious sambhar often, as they need less time to prepare also nourishing one with rice...Potato spicy fry goes as excellent side dish for this sambhar..



3/4cup Toor dal
2nos Onion (chopped lengthwise)
2nos Tomatoes (chopped )
2nos Green chillies
6nos Garlic pods
1tsp Lemon Juice
2tsp Coriander leaves chopped

For Tempering:
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
1/4tsp Urad dal
3 nos Red chillies
1/4tsp Cumin seeds
1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder

Wash toor dal thoroughly n pressure cook until three whistles with turmeric powder..heat oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies, cumin seeds n asafoetida powder n let them splutters..

Now add the finely chopped lengthwise onion pieces n fry them well until they turns transculent, add the tomatoes pieces n fry them until they turns mushy n also add the green chillies n smashed garlic pods n fry them for a while...adjust toor dal with enough water as per need, this sambar should be watery....now add the toor dal with salt n bring them to boil, put the flame in simmer n let them cook until the veggies get cooked..put off the stove n add lemon juice to the sambar, add chopped coriander leaves to the sambar..

Serve hot with rice..Easy to prepare, can serve this sambar with any choice of spicy side dish..
